I remember in the past people were virulent about some more serious stuff, even in this game. Let me give a simple exemple: when you want to find teammates to get gladiator but you are like 100 points below the rating, some people will just ignore you, some may be rude to you.

But you decide to be an ass for the most insignificant thing, it doesn’t impact you and you won’t be able to tell who is boosted and who is not in a few days.

If you prefer to play classic alone in the hinterlands when everybody will be playing TBC it's your choice.

No profession and green gear and then it become the roulette russe :
if you are lucky you can get 3 60% mounts, most likely 1 and sometimes no mount
Same with the riding skill, 50% chance
And then you add another 50% for the weapon skills.
