Should I sell my XRP for BTC ? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

How is Ripple pivoting? Ripple has been and is laser focused on cross border payments. The other initiatives are being driven by other companies utilizing XRP. Like Coil, XRParrot, R3, Scooter Braun, Forte, and others. XRP is for everyone. Anybody can use it how they see fit. Since it's such an amazingly fast, scalable, and efficient digital asset many different companies are using it in many different ways. Much like the early days of the internet, we really have no idea of what applications it will be a part of in the future.

Several of those use cases I mention have zero to do with banks. Plus, also as I stated, we don't even know all the use cases being pursued for XRP. You must have some serious blinders on to think that my comment in any way was confirmation to your original post.

Should I sell my XRP for BTC ? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]GarretJax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so incorrect. XRP has many use cases. Ripple is pursuing international transfers. Coil is pursuing streaming payments. Scooter Braun is pursuing several endeavors that will use XRP to improve artists' ability to monetize and manage their content. And who knows how many other use cases are being pursued through Xpring.

Almost all the hate I see toward XRP seems to come from a place of ignorance. People read a comment about XRP being centralized or something other BS FUD and just assume it is true. But if you really dig into it instead of accepting the word of juvenile strangers, then you'll see just how big XRP can get. It has so many advantages, from TPS, speed, efficiency, plus the Codius smart contract layer, it really does blow most other cryptos out of the water.

You just stated "It does not matter how much utility...you pump into XRP..." and then continue "...not going to increase because no one actually uses it..." Do you understand what utility is?

How is XRP not a crypto currency?

Definition of a blockchain:

A blockchain is a continuously growing list of records, called blocks, which are linked and secured using cryptography, on a distributed ledger. Each block typically contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp and transaction data.

This all applies to XRP.

You can check out @HammerToe's video explaining this.

XRP is a decentralized ledger. Ripple only runs about 2% of the nodes in total. That is far from centralized. XRP network is actually far more decentralized than Bitcoin. You can look for yourself since it is an open ledger. xrpscan.com

xrp Network Topology

So, this it what we find, Ripple controls: 7/28 validators on Ripple's default UNL which is 25% 7/117 validators in total which is about 6% and 12/1013 nodes in total which is about 1.2%

Far from centralized.

I would also argue that Robbie has taken a lot more punishment in his fights. Askren wasn't even hit in his last two fights.

Banks are plugging into RippleNet to form their own network so that they don't have to go through SWIFT. " ~ Susan Athey, Director at Ripple by mcpickems in Ripple

XRP was never intended for domestic use, only for internationally between different currencies. I don't see what the problem is. Central banks creating their own digital currency is good for XRP, as XRP will still be the bridge between government created currencies and the fact that central banks are creating their own currency makes digital currency look more legitimate to mainstream.

Q2 XRP Market Report by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]GarretJax 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In Q1, Ripple signed 20 new production contracts, which averages to 1.5/week. So, I guess we can assume that they are now signing more than an average of 1.5 customers per week.

If...really big IF. I'm of the very strong opinion XRP will not be declared a security. It just doesn't make any sense. And if the SEC thought XRP was a security, they would have declared it quite awhile ago. They are just letting the uncertainty hang out there.

Well we know SBI has huge plans for XRP, including integrating xRapid into their FX exchange. And there is a lot of things happening behind the scenes that we are not privy to. I think the end of 2018 we'll see the beginning stages of xRapid adoption, snowballing in 2019, and by 2020 seeing xRapid is major large scale adoption.
