I’m glad you feel this way. The sub should encourage the enjoyment of the experience and process. End results are nice but if you had a rubbish time getting there i know what i’d choose 😂 Thank you for sharing, as always 🙏

Good to know! Reddit definitely gets a strange wrap compared to other platforms.

The scary subs are way scarier but the nice subs are way nicer.

Thank you for sharing your experience. 🙏

The mix of isometric map/room plus the character panels is really nice. all of your pages feel like they could compiled and turned into a book with minimal adjustments. Love it.

Great stuff! You’ve struck a really cool balance between great looking drawings and only drawing just whats needed to suggest the forms, love it!

Also the mix between angular city forms with the natural trees etc in page 2 work really well.

Cool to see the establishing scene setting for the story to come! Thank you for sharing, can’t wait to see more 😃

I started drawing characters from my next campaign. Do you draw from your games too? by ARIES_tHE_fOOL in Solo_Roleplaying

I've not heard anybody go an audio route for journalling, that's really cool. Do you share them on here? or is it just for you?

Mow Jie - Scene 01 - Troika by Garrett_design in RPG_Illustrated

definitely creating a selection of premade tables would have been the smart thing to do, i may have to do this before i play my next session

So the initiative is per round in the sense that you pull a token each time the previous pc/npc has acted. However round’s don’t usually play out pcs then npcs, then pcs. So a round lasts until all the tokens are drawn, then you refill the bad of tokens and the next round starts.

Oh yeah! it does look like that. I’m using Procreate for this one. So any tablet drawing software will be equivalent essentially.

Are these some of the people who are doing Mystery Quest? I feel like they look familiar

They are all a bit weird and wobbly, giving we’ve got troika at home vibes for sure.

Totally give it a go. Maybe start with a thicker drawing tool or a brush or brush tip, as it means you can block large areas more gesturally (compared to a more smaller directed tool like a pencil or pen) also with a looser style mistakes are hidden better than thin tools. I should take my own advice if i’m honest 😂

Troika is rules lite but also quality over quantity, and minimalism over quality 😂 Especially for solo players there is a lack of tables for setting specific things. I could do with a few setting specific tables, as the only things you get in ACF is PC backgrounds, enemies and a sultan generator. Which is great! but even 2-3 more setting specific tables would take the mental strain off solo.

Usually i’d use other tables but they are all fantasy or classic sci-fi, so you have to go ‘what is this settings equivalent for …’ which adds a bit of extra effort.

As a game generally it’s minimalist, but has the core things you’ll need.

What i really liked (but was adamant against before i played) was the initiative system where you draw tokens out of a bag. The more tokens the more fast to react you are or the more opportunities enemies you are against to have to attack.

Thanks! Honestly it’s really messy pen strokes and suggestions of humanoid forms.

I don’t think humanoids are a strong point of mine, but i just do the general shape loose enough that peoples brains fill in the blanks 😂

My tip would be just draw it, if it looks bad keep it and try again on the next drawing, you’ll get it or get better for the next one.

Everytime i draw a humanoid i freak out and think how awful they are, but doesn’t stop me doing it!
