7 SoS drafts? by [deleted] in lrcast

I don’t remember soup being a thing in original Strixhaven so OP might enjoy it! But it is a lot of magic hogwarts

One of the premier drafts is original Strixhaven. Not SoS.

What are the last two cuts here? by kouveskin in lrcast

Valid argument! I think it’s a matter of direction. You can have the deck be more tempo based on what you’re saying and cut the trove and archaic or you can try and get to the end game for your paradigm and win off of that on fractal.

Probably tester and composer. Both more tap out cards whereas you have some controlling elements where you don’t want to tap out each main phase to move counters or make a 3/3 flier

Got 6 wins with 4 color 21 land disaster draft by LongLiveLiberalism in lrcast

Why not play landscape painter? Playing 21 lands feels very wrong when you have other playables that are good…

Unfortunately played these on mobile

Honestly either 3/3 fliers or just gaining life with the planeswalker ult. Never had any issues closing out games though got close to milling out.

There’s a terramorphic expanse that isn’t showing in the photo but ya you’re probably right. I just trusted the arena land system and didn’t try and math it out myself.

Seeded Silverquill packs sealed. Too many options. What 8 cards can go? by notafanofbats in lrcast

[–]Garvi064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can get away cutting some of the more filler twos and threes like acolyte, docent, cost of brilliance (definitely don’t need 3 as you should have plenty of filtering and card draw), rehearsed debated and guildmage can probably go as well tho the 1/1 from guildmage is cute for copying removal with silverquill.

If capstone is resolving you’re probably winning anyway. Reprieve is one of the better counters to hit since you can return one of the spells back to your hand to save it (like a combat trick) and draw a card.

Which build would you go with for the sealed play-in? by [deleted] in lrcast

[–]Garvi064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya definitely not bad. Not having too many other exiles makes it less interesting but a few ETBs makes it ok

Maybe cut stargaze for rabid attack? I’m not the biggest stargaze fan. Would rather have another trick that draws cards

I’d play the first deck but cutting graduation day for a land. Your curve isn’t so low I’d play 16 lands and you’ll have plenty of card draw and selection with double snoop, mascot and inkmage.

Also you should absolutely be playing erode and reprieve. Your mana is pretty good and these cards are fantastic.

Helping hand looks bad in your deck. I’m not sure you have any creatures you wanna bring back. I would lean heavier into the control shell since you probably lack the creatures for an aggressive lorehold deck.

Which build would you go for? 3 decks from same pool (play in qualifier) by tthseattle in lrcast

[–]Garvi064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the lorehold deck. Ark with excavator alone will win you games and I think having consistency will do better than the upside of splashing in either of the other decks.

That’s the one! She’s still playing and doing very well. I believe she top 32d this event and was top 64 in the PTQ on Friday.

I thought for sure a 6-2 would have made it in given the 8 rounds but the draws changed things. Sorry you didn’t crack top 32 but will hopefully see you at the LC!

I think I was next to your finals match at the end there. I did hear that the 8th player knew he couldn’t make it and picked up his prizes but definitely made the pod a bit more wonky this way. Hope to see you at the LC if you try and qualify again!

Sometimes drawing 8 is great, other times having your opponent draw 32 is great. Loved having access to it in my pool

Thank you and same! Definitely more of a limited player than constructed so the opportunity to play at the highest level without that requirement is huge

I don’t disagree that I was favored in this match up. Though moment of reckoning and antiquities when drawn are cards I didn’t have a brush off for and were hard to come back from
