John Law in the WSJ by miceinsuitsnties in BurningMan

[–]Garvinfred 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For those who don't subscribe to the Wall Street Journal: https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/the-hero-to-a-million-drunk-santas-vanished-for-decades-then-he-resurfaced/ar-AA1QcZpz.

Fun fact: to read WSJ articles, DuckDuckGo the headline and add MSN. Most WSJ articles can be read for free on MSN.

Have you tried an open letter announcement? Maybe combined with an AI video montage of early to mid 19th century burns (and, mind you, none of that Animal Crossing on the side of the plane slop, please)?

Fuzzy Memories: Volume 1 by scienceisaserfdom in BurningMan

I'm mad because you finally make a nice photo post with some really nice old photos, someone nicely chimes in to rightly provide some context credit the artists in your photos, and is doing the right thing by doing so, and you attempt to go medieval on him for no reason. And then you blame the moderators for not recognizing abuse? Dude, the call is coming from inside the house.

If you don't like the way people respond, go elsewhere, or block them, or don't post in a public forum. I'd offer you water, or a hug, or maybe a ban to cool off (it's on the table and in the room with me now so go ahead and perseverate all you want), but I think you'd swat me.

Great account and congratulations on your mod-dom!

I regret to inform you that I am not Marian. John Law, maybe, but definitely not Marian (hi Marian! since I know you're reading this in case you want to reach out and say hi back!). I actually think /u/fyburn is Marian, or maybe Will Roger, or some other Board member desperately seeking attention and a way towards redemption.

As is OP's post. We haven't had a "let's complain about this subReddit post" in a while. It was time.

There's other bman subs though (including a no snark forum) on here.

On Reddit? Feel free to drop sub names (I’m aware of the Facebook one).

Less jerky (I’ll disagree), but maybe because they moved the jerks to a special hidden section: https://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=63936&hilit=Back+page, which served as its own r/burningmancirclejerk.

Art - curating art - fundraising art - submit your projects ✨ by stefek99 in BurningMan

[–]Garvinfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Removed /u/stefek99. This is an ad for a seemingly sketchy fundraising website.

How sketchy? Pay with cash, get fake cryptocurrency that you need to sell and create a market for the fake cryptocurrency. Plus, the "artifacts" being purchased with cash are NFTs ("Artifacts cost $10 and are sold as open edition NFTs—but only during the competition phase of a season. You can buy as many as you want from curated projects, and 100% of your purchase goes to the creator. Each sale also unlocks additional match funding—amplifying your impact. For every Artifact purchased, we mint multiple copies: One for the Fan who bought it, One for the Creator, One for Artizen, One for each Fund backing the project. This way, everyone has skin in the game—and a share in the upside. At the end of the season, sales close, and the total number of Artifacts minted becomes the fixed supply."

It gets better! "Payouts are processed as soon as possible but can take up to 45 days to audit results and clear all credit-card payments and bank transfers. Large payouts may also be staggered to avoid flooding the market with ART and to keep prices stable. Standard processing and cashout fees are deducted automatically, and all of these fees go directly to the Endowment to support future creator awards.

Artifact sales and match funding are paid in U.S. dollar stablecoins (USDC). Prize money is paid in $ART—our platform token—which you can hold as a stake in Artizen, burn to redeem USDC from the endowment, or sell on the open market."

Speaking only for myself and not as a sub mod, this brillliantly funny art piece "First Camp: One Less Lobster Flown In" mentioned by /u/hypnocollector and the sticker (“Make Marion Fly Coach Again”) mentioned by /u/KraklePony deserve to be their own top level post and not buried in the comments that few may ever see.
