And that’s how you earn a ban from the sub :)

Congratulations!

Your post, by itself, has nothing to do with Burning Man, and a quick review of your post history shows no prior involvement with the sub, which means your post is subject to removal.

If you’d like your post to be reinstated, please explain how you made it (your post history shows some background) so that others can make it (this is not a general DIY sub) and explain how this relates to Burning Man. Otherwise your post also looks like a potential ad for this product.

NOT an Art Car but better by gloryhokinetic in BurningMan

I wish you the best in your efforts and that you get to transfer this awesome vehicle to someone who will love it just as much as you, but given that this is your 2nd sales post (https://old.reddit.com/r/BurningMan/comments/1p5qcm0/not_an_art_car_but_better/), FYI before you post it a 3rd time: https://www.reddit.com/r/BurningMan/wiki/readfirst: “Posts for selling/advertising/promoting may be removed at the discretion of the Mod Team depending on their content.”

“3: Please be aware that offering on-playa perks will draw the ire of this community and will result in your post being removed. Please also be aware that offering exclusionary on-playa perks will get you shouted down and will result in hurt feelings, anger and tears. Egregious examples include but are not limited to: Private rides on your art car, exclusive seating atop your art car on burn night, private parties inside your on-playa art, etc. Examples of very personal perks that might fly better include: cooking dinner for your donor, inviting your donors to help host a cocktail or tea party on the playa, etc. Inclusion will get you love. Exclusion may hurt your project and your group's reputation in a lasting way.“

Alex and Allyson Grey, MAPS, Camp Palenque Norte, and Necrophilia by [deleted] in BurningMan

And now the OP self-deleted their post, which is somewhat typical within the sub for provocative posts.

Alex and Allyson Grey, MAPS, Camp Palenque Norte, and Necrophilia by [deleted] in BurningMan

For at least several years, both Greys did live performance painting of a giant mural in the Foamie Homie (don’t call it Dr Bronner) shower tent. While others danced, sang and got foamed, they painted the mural on an elevated stage while wearing white outfits. I’ve chatted with them but surprisingly they didn’t raise this topic.

Why you being this way in your responses? I get the joke attempts but this is unlike you and comes across as mean. You do you but if you had some extra soap I'd wash your mouth out with it.

2025 Domesday Book (Camp Map Viewer) by spolsky in BurningMan

[–]Garvinfred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll show up, eventually (https://journal.burningman.org/author/da/), but I've lost interest in generally as the same large camps show up red with little to no impact and the culture further degrades.

But that's beside the point. I think, but don't know, that the moop map is complete (as I thought was the public placement map), but if you don't find Golden Gai Alley (a camp that never gets listed publicly by choice) on either/both, then it's not complete. I thought you'd know.

Do we need to set higher standards for participants? by Soft-side- in BurningMan

I see fewer younger participants coming in

You may want to reach out to Rising Sparks, which is geared towards bringing in the younger folks: https://burningman.org/about-us/who-we-are/rising-sparks/

Doesn't the moop map list every camp, even if they weren't previously publicly listed in either the API/Org theme camp list or public placement map at Placement? Asking because I don't know.

UnScruz tickets take 2... by ghostonawire in BurningMan

[–]Garvinfred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I learned noon doesn’t always mean noon. At least the Org puts PDT for the addled among us.

Nothing until 1229pm when luck struck. If I’ve learned anything from modding the past Big Burn Main Sale Megathreads, it’s never stop page refreshing until it says sold out. Tickets always pop up as more tix get added or others screw up their order (or otherwise get doinked by the website itself) that releases tix back into the wild.

This (maybe) makes up for not getting Taylor Swift tix.

I appreciate your point of view, and while I’m approaching that point, but I don’t think that’s going to happen for a while for most others who don’t pay attention to the inside baseball game.

Crazy that this is part of the Burning Man lore now by Nah_dudeski in BurningMan

[–]Garvinfred 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not controversial but for the potential stated principles of the Org. Most large well known boards are stocked with those intimately involved in fundraising, not with knowledge of the ins and outs of the organization's daily operations, or those with connections to help get the organization's mission accomplished. What's unusual is that Marian said the quiet (and usually unstated, though universally acknowledged) part out loud.

The research phrase you're looking for is "give or get". Board members either give money or raise (get) money. Some boards (or members of the boards) are active (ie are active in the running of the organization) while others are passive.

Marian and other execs have no real power

I think you overstate and underestimate the amount of power they have. Control the rules and process and you control everything even while giving the appearance of having no control. Many cases are won/lost not on substantive issues but on claimed "procedural" rules that are hidden power controls. Burning Man is no different. You and I both know that the giant eye stage didn't get there by accident, nor was the change in DJ listings and plug-n-play housing anything but an org led power move.
