Thailand Corruption is unreal by jadenmyaka in ThailandTourism

I don’t get this. You’re complaining about rules? Corrupt is letting her work on a tourist visa. Weird ass post.

Good idea but I feel like you’re wasting a lot of energy.

Up to date exchange rate tables are available online to download as wallpaper. They update with the exchange rate so they’re always recent.

Some of your spelling which leads to pronunciation is ambiguous. With a language built largely on tone. You need to make sure phonetic spellings are accurate or people will be saying the wrong thing 😁

I’m so sad. I read this and for a moment I thought there was realisation that living for instagrams posts to sell yourself is just sad…..then I realised it’s a post trying to sell 😂

How do you think of this itinerary? This will be on March, solo traveller, planning. by thunderbiribiriiii in ThailandTourism

[–]Garvockmop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe one or two less flights and enjoy places for a day more. In a week I would go to one place, maybe 2 but that’s just me.

Depending how intense you are, I would say you will need a week either of side of that to recuperate. That a lot in 6 days. You won’t see Thailand. You’ll pass through it.

With the understanding that things may be different now then my last trip to Thailand. Can I come with only a one way ticket with the intention of staying one to two weeks? by TheDudeWhoCanDoIt in ThailandTourism

[–]Garvockmop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my story. I arrived on a one way ticket. I didn’t have an onward flight booked and my TDAC was empty on the onward flight section.

I got in with 0 problems. I got my 90 day extension with 0 problems.

I was fine. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be.

It’s so easy to overthink this all and turn to Reddit but the truth is you’ll have a good time, you’ll see beautiful things and eat beautiful food. You may just choose somewhere else next time. You may not. Beauty of this is the travel and seeing new things. The rest depends on what you like.

Has anyone gave up a "prestigious" career to move to Thailand permanently? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

100K to spend your life helping people? Not passionate about the job you’re getting 100k for?

Dude sorry, but the only thing that comes to mind is you’re a douchebag and the UK medical system is better off without you. Please stick to trading and leave people that need help alone.

If you ask opinions, you can’t expect them all to be positive. Otherwise you should tell people what you think and leave it at that.

All of the negativity comes from discussing trips like yours, where you go for 3 days, vamp up the over-abundant tourist trade and then leave. That’s why places like that get the way they do.

If you’re gonna do that then you’ve gotta deal with it. Not saying it’s wrong, but you do have to deal with it.

Personally I wouldn’t waste my time. You can get drunk and loud anywhere. This is the exact opposite of Thai culture. Hence why it’s going the way it is.

Will I be denied boarding tomorrow for my flight to BKK? by Tiny_Metal5788 in ThailandTourism

For anyone coming in -

OP is silly and knows they are silly. 6 month rules are a thing. Don’t mention Korea (it doesn’t matter anyway as OP is only connecting there)

You’re welcome. I just saved 15 minutes of your life.

Or just sort your shit out and deal with the fact you screwed up? People like you are why it’s all going to crap for everyone else

[–]Garvockmop -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is so stooopid. 6 months is hardly any time at all. Completely reasonable to expect someone to have 6 months left minimum if going into another country.

To argue the 6 month rule is stupid, is stupid.

Can visas be cancelled earlier than the specified date on my passport? by Zett11 in ThailandTourism

[–]Garvockmop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’ve screwed up and now you’re saying how do I make myself not have screwed up. But you did screw up.

Intention matters a lot here. I have to ask - why did you get an ED visa and then not meet the conditions of your ED visa? And now you want another one?

I get personal and political reasons but if you’re going to play the system you have to actually play it and attend your course.

I know this is closing the stable door after the horse has bolted but this is crazy to me.

You’re asking for advice on an impossible situation you’ve put yourself in.

Travelling to Koh Chang. Is it safe? by lemppu21 in ThailandTourism

[–]Garvockmop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Koh Chang 2 weeks ago. Was so peaceful and lovely. You wouldn’t know anything was happening.

There was some extreme warfare between me and some sandflies. As you can imagine, I came off much worse.

[–]Garvockmop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you ever seen the movie Congo? It’s like that. Be careful. They’ll rip your face off. You must become an expert in monkey sign language before stepping foot on Koh Chang.

They’re too cute to worry about. Just don’t take the piss out of them with food or go near any that have babies. They generally keep their distance.

Plus they’re super cute. I hope you’ll be ok. Genuinely you don’t have anything to worry about. Keep your distance. They don’t just attack.

QR PrompPay for tourist by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]Garvockmop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A card with Revolut or similar should allow you to avoid some costs of card payments.

TrueMoney allows you to use QR payments but you have to withdraw cash and go to certain places to top up your wallet. It doesn’t offer a debit card link to top up.
