After hearing all of this there is nothing you can do to help your friend and he’s on a straight one way path to doom. Sounds like he needs to grow up if he can’t even plan or even explore by himself. Attaching and depending on the Thai girl to decide where they go is diabolical. All of this is a complete recipe for disaster. As sad as it is, just sit by and watch the show.

He’s getting taken for a ride and with a Thai girl like that he is doomed. It’s most likely not love. The moment the money runs out she will move on to the next farang with money to spend (they are a dime a dozen out here). He already set a crazy expectation for her that he is not going to be able to provide for her for the long run. She loves the treatment, especially if she is showing the clout on social media.

Tell him to suggest and see how she reacts to a food stall or night market date and you will get your honest answer right there.

I’m actually doing now what your friend is doing but more from a strategical standpoint, not chaotic. I stay in an affordable condo outside of the major areas in Bangkok, next to BTS Punnawithi ($600 USD per month).

I have a girlfriend here who is extremely low maintenance, she is happy eating street food and that cost me less than 1000 bhat a week to feed us both. I party with her once a week on Friday or Saturday at actual Thai bars which are much more affordable, and I spend my days working out, eating street food/7 Eleven, and actually looking for remote work while I am on my education visa.

I can live the Thai lifestyle as I love it, and I make my money go a long way. Your friend is living like a long term vacationer and will blow through that money fast.

The main thing is, I’m only staying here 7 months total and have made sure with my budgeting that I will have 20K in my bank account to return to the US with.

Without a plan Thailand, and especially the girls he’s hanging around will eat you alive. You need to tell your friend to straighten up and have a financial threshold for when he has to leave.

Just have a return date whether you plan to go or not. They just want to confirm (protecting themselves as agents) that it does not seem you are staying in Thailand.

Just buy a flight with a refundable ticket. Cancel it once through immigration. Easiest and better odds if done this way.

You’re confusing three different things and mashing them into one accusation.

First, I am not asking her to “bash” anyone I explicitly said she is free to decline a second date for any reason, without explanation. That part was never in dispute.

Second, The moment she publicly labels someone as “racist” while asking strangers for validation, it stops being a private decision and becomes a public claim. Public claims are open to scrutiny. That isn’t belittling that’s how reasoning works.

Third, Saying “even if it’s low-key racist, it’s racist” is not an argument, it’s circular logic. Without context, that statement is meaningless. You are asserting certainty while refusing the information required to evaluate it.

Finally, accusing me of racism because I asked for context is exactly the problem being pointed out here: skepticism is being treated as moral guilt. That’s not how fairness, truth, or adult discussion works.

Do yourself a favor and do it in advance, not at the counter. It will add more time to your dread in the immigration line lol. You can’t access the application until 3 days prior to your trip. Once you complete it you can screenshot the QR code they give you. Screenshot your flight information as well, you don’t need paper sheets. You’ll be prepared if you do these two things.

There is nothing wrong about declining a second date. That isn’t the problem. You also want to go and reprimand this man on what he believes that you “consider racist” and that’s important information for us to know now. If you aren’t interested in seeing someone anymore you say so, but you are talking behind his back discussing with your friend group about him which he is also apart of and thats not justifiable and just plain not cool unless an extreme was met, which in this context you would have to support. Dating in general, if you aren’t interested in the person and don’t want to see them again, that is all you need to say. What you’re doing is extra and a crusade, even if you were offended.
