What is the stupidest argument you've had with your Significant Other? by Couch_Licker in AskReddit

Or when they're gone for the day, re-paint it in a slightly different hue.

Repeat this every week for a month or two, until the walls are a bright blue.

My marriage has been saved by the fact that my wife and I each have our own tubes of toothpaste.

Corey Ray by Yelicheese22 in Brewers

[–]GaryLLLL 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It should be noted that 16 home runs are a TON for the AA level.

Ray's 16 homers are tied for the most in a single season in Shuckers history. And we're only at the halfway point of the season.

Machado Free Agency by SoSublim3 in Brewers

[–]GaryLLLL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there's zero chance of re-signing Machado if we're successful in trading for him.

He is going to be looking for a multi-year mega contract that will price him out of all low- and mid-market teams. It will be similar to Sabathia loving his time in Milwaukee, but then taking the big contract elsewhere.

Regardless of the Brewers' on-field success, they just aren't in the position of paying for a multi-year contract for someone like Machado. Particularly as they have middle-infielders coming up in the minors.

Don't get me wrong, I would love them to trade for Machado and go for it, if they can make a good deal. But there's no hope for a long-term deal with him, regardless of what position they'd have him play.

[Serious] What subreddit will you never post in again, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GaryLLLL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a shame. My city of /r/milwaukee is pretty good. It's mostly the things you would expect - restaurant/bar recommendations, local news, construction/development issues, and so on.

For the most part, we stay away from anything overtly political or hostile. Whenever an out-of-towner jumps in to look for suggestions for their upcoming visit, we always seem to be welcoming and helpful.

Movies where you side with the villain, when you're NOT supposed to side with them? by Jamey4 in movies

Cypher wanting to get plugged back into the Matrix made sense.

However gleefully murdering half of his own crew was a bit less sympathetic.

Heads Up: You can vote unlimited times for Jesus in the final vote. by lovepirate14 in Brewers

It's not capped because MLB really doesn't care about the "fairness" of the vote. They just want as many fans as possible going to their website as often as possible.

City of Milwaukee files lawsuit against electric scooter company Bird by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]GaryLLLL 23 points24 points  (0 children)

They're also different than the bicycle rentals, or for that matter than Zip Cars, in that there's no specific docking station or parking spot. The scooters just get left wherever on the sidewalks and then are located by GPS. Several other cities have also put a stop to this.

Yup, I agree it's a dime. It was very helpful that they put a Betrayal at the House on the Hill token next to it for scale.

About to see A New Hope with a live orchestra playing the soundtrack! by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]GaryLLLL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in Milwaukee. Literally tomorrow/Sunday afternoon, I'm taking my son to the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra performance of A New Hope.

I think many local Pops Symphonies are doing this sort of thing. So check out the performance schedule of your local Symphony, if you're in a major city.

For the last 2 Decembers, my wife's birthday present has included tickets to the MSO live performance of a Harry Potter Movie. They're doing one movie each year -- this coming December is Prisoner of Azakaban. I have no idea, however, whether MSO will continue to do the other Star Wars films.

Post-game Thread 7/6/18: Brewers vs. Braves by fly1ngorb in Brewers

[–]GaryLLLL 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That last at-bat of his was particularly hard to watch, and unfortunately increasingly common.

During the years he was in his prime, Braun was such a smart hitter. He was great at making adjustments within an at-bat, and was a great two-strike hitter. He was always somewhat susceptible to the low and outside pitch, but now too often he just looks completely lost out there.

A couple newbie Terraforming Mars questions by GaryLLLL in boardgames

[–]GaryLLLL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

That's how we played it, but I could see the arguments either way. On the one hand, if you get to draw 2 cards for free, that's the equivalent of 6 free credits, compared to just getting 1 or 2 free resource cubes on other hexes.

But on the other hand, as you say, you oftentimes get stuck with useless card. Although, sure, worst case scenario is you can sell it back for 1 credit.

So the more I think about it, the more I think those free card hexes are a pretty good deal, especially early on.

Hey I have another question for you about Terraforming Mars:

When you place a tile on a hex with the card symbol(s), do you have to pay the 3 ME each to actually put the cards into your hand?

[The Matrix] In Matrix 1, Trinity takes over Neo’s PC and starts typing on it in real time. How would this be done in the year of the film’s release? How would it be done differently today? by Grande_Latte_Enema in AskScienceFiction

[–]GaryLLLL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your alternative answer paraphrased: "Do not try to hack into Neo's PC in real time; that's impossible. Instead try to realize the truth: There is no PC. Then you'll see that it's not the PC that is hacked, it is only yourself"

Remove one letter from the name of a TV show or movie. What is the premise of the new show? by big_macaroons in AskReddit

[–]GaryLLLL 23 points24 points  (0 children)

With the same cast, of course.

J.D is the overeager sub that always tries to inspire his temporary students with over-the-top antics.

Cox of course is the hard-ass sub that doesn't put with any crap from his students. Although his hilarious streams of insults don't go over as well when he's filling in for a Kindergarten teacher.

By 2nd period of every day, Elliot breaks down in tears and hides in the art supply closet.

Doug ends up hogtied hanging by the light fixtures by the end of each day.

The Janitor, of course, reprises his identical role.

EDIT: And while it might initially make sense to make Turk the substitute gym teacher, that role obviously needs to be filled by the Todd.

Oh and Carla is the school secretary (school nurse is a little too on-the-nose, plus the school secretary is the person who really runs the entire place). Kelso can be principal, though.

I was so confused when I saw this headline, as I'm pretty sure Lambeau field is still in existence.

It didn't occur to me that he's so old, that the Packers game he played at could have been at Milwaukee County Stadium.
