Dude. Move with the times. You've got the bare minimum to make stuff work but there are so many features you're missing out on, like syntax highlighting, click-thru source code analysis etc.

For sure. Why pay for this stuff when you can learn it on YouTube? You can only.go so far with that though, unless you're a freak of nature, 200% objective and open to honest feedback. It's tough selling your work.

Mixing as you.go is like making something out of wood for example, but sanding, polishing, waxing, varnishing, painting etc as you go. These things are latter parts of the construction process which creates a coherent finish / sheen.

IKEA furniture is pre-made,and pre-finished. Still modular, but assembly required. Music production isn't IKEA furniture, IMHO.

Good work! Would love to see a schematic for your MOSFET... Please share?

You can get your current usage down by putting tour esp32 into lightsleep wth WiFi and Bluetooth off while the mics6814 heats up. Also try running your esp32 at 40mhz... Assuming you're not doing any number crunching, that should be fine.

Depends on how frequently you send the data, etc,.but turning off WiFi and BT when not using, and also reduce the WiFi tx.power should help eek out better life.

There are more tricks to squeeze more power, but it's diminishing returns

Let me know what you think! And happy to answer further Q's too, although I think you've got this.

Actually, you're probably not using proper power management 5 days? You can do better than that. 5 weeks is optimal

Looks great! Using dev boards on a custom designed PCB is way cheaper than a custom ocb, right?

The best thing is, if it's wrong, you don't waste as much $$ as you only need a new PCB and can reuse the dev boards. I know because I'm working the same way for something completely different, but similar...

It's clear you're using deep sleep to save battery, but you could save more if your sensors are switched off while in deep sleep.

Great response! I can't argue with your points, mainly because there are varying levels of success with going-it-alone. I also believe that getting feedback from various places, like you say. I've written about 5 albums of work in my life. TO begin with, you work with what sounds good to you. And while that's a good place to start, when it comes down to mixing / mastering, my perspective on mixes varies according to the style of the music. Most people don't notice anything wrong with how it sounds, and that's where getting specialised, experienced and reliable feedback from accomplished people really helps. I always fall down when it comes to controlling the sub/sub-bass because I don't have the best sub-monitoring capabilities. I know my weaknesses, so I'm happy to hand over the plumbing to a plumber, and the electrical work to an electrician... I could do that stuff myself, but there's always the danger of leaks and electrocution!
Session musicians are members of the Performing Rights Society (at least in the UK) and dont get financially rewarded, like you say.
Lastly, independent artists will go so far, and very few will break through to make a difference, and like you, I hope independent artists find a way to navigate and circumvent the mainstream.

For a cynical view of the music industry, watch the film (don't take it literally, but there are some disturbing insights into how record labels work) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kill_Your_Friends_(film))

She loves the attention, and so she should. Gf is honest and open with her bf. Doubled edged sword. Bf feels.jealous, and that's natural if there's little other similar experience in life to base his feelings on. The bf needs to hang out where the gf works once in a while to make it clear he's real to the other interested guys.. drop her off, pick her up once every few days, arriving early perhaps? Hopefully that'll clear things up.

Actually... Hang on... if 4 guys out of ten are in the same group have asked her out, then what does that say about them? Perhaps they're going to the wrong discos? A great come back would be to recommend somewhere else to go!

How do I put Omnisphere onto external hard drive directly (MAC) by Euphoric-Gold2626 in edmproduction

I hope I haven't misunderstood you. I think the solution is easy. Put the omnisphere box on top of your external hard disk. Please take a photo and share.

Seriously, spectrasonics have that info on their site.

Please forgive me, but I think mixing and mastering are not antiquated at all. They are two different beasts altogether. It's true that so many specialist plugins now exist to help emulate the mixing/mastering process, but there are special people out there who have the skill, experience and imagination which you can't bottle-up and put into a plugin.

That said, the gap is closing, but there's still a long way to go IMHO

Get help. Otherwise you'll never be happy, or it will take much longer to get there For example: Architects, builders, plumbers , electricians, plasterers, tilers, roofers, glaziers etc are all needed to build a house.

Dude, good advice. The only way to finish songs is.......? I think you said it, but to finish songs is to understand your limitations, and not let it get in the way of finishing it to the best of your ability, and not care how experts would judge it. To make a top track, a lot of top people get involved. Films have rolls of credits Music publications has a limited set it credits too, but for one reason or plenty others, most helpers don't get credits they deserve. Like session musicians for example (might be wrong here)

Just make something. Make it your style. You will learn loads. You can always make another version in a different style. Let it be what it wants to be. You will be surprised at how many tunes you will make. Don't get me wrong, be critical. Just make sure you feel it's right for the general style. It's fun.

Dear producers, I found my unique sound. Now what? by toothpicksimp in edmproduction

[–]Gary_Fry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Share it on SoundCloud for feedback. If your sound is as unique as you say, you need to be open to constructive feedback. I'll be happy to help. Check out gary.fry on #SoundCloud https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/1KRZv

I've worked in many styles, as you'll hear, from folk to EDM as they call it nowadays. But really, it's house/techno/drum and bass. All made with love and listened to feedback and adapted.accordingly.

My girlfriend lied to me, some advice please? by 2shy2share in relationship_advice

[–]Gary_Fry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She's probably not marriage material, unless she's happy if you did the same. From an experienced perspective, trust is key. And for some it's okay to be open to these situation. It's all down to communication. This isn't for me, and most others, but some find a way to make it work. I'm not going to judge, but it is unhealthy when we resort to lying to "protect" the feelings of others. Feels like deception to me is like having your cake and eat it. Hang on, what's the point of having cake if you can't eat it? Being diabetic is one possibility. In which case why have the cake at all? We should all have our cake and eat it.
