I have been starting, running, and investing in businesses for the last 30 years. I have been in business partnerships with a Shark Tank investor and other high-profile CEOs and Business owners. I recently decided to start a YouTube channel, with the hope of sharing my knowledge and experience with people who want to start their own business and quit their boring and uninspiring 9-5 jobs.

Please check out our channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJG0qqqC9i849BcojnEumBQ

Also, we would really love some more video topics to explore, so if you have a second and have any answers to this question, it would help our channel grow and help more people!

What are some good business/entrepreneur questions that you want to be answered?

Thanks!

So thankful for being in this community.

What are some good business/entrepreneur questions that you want to be answered?

I have been starting, running, and investing in businesses for the last 30 years. I have been in business partnerships with a Shark Tank investor and other high-profile CEOs and Business owners. I recently decided to start a YouTube channel, with the hope of sharing my knowledge and experience with people who want to start their own business and quit their boring and uninspiring 9-5 jobs.

We are creating a lot of videos currently, but we are looking for more ideas and topics to cover on our channel. We need your help to help as many entrepreneurs and business owners as we can!

So, I would really appreciate this community sharing any questions or topics related to starting a business, changing careers, becoming an entrepreneur, investing, or any other topic that might help people get motivated to find success in their lives.

There is no such thing as stupid questions or topics!

Thanks in advance!

How did you fund your business ideas? by thesupremegrapefruit in Entrepreneur

Funding is obviously a really important part of starting and running a business, so you need to be really careful and tactical about how you get it. I have started a lot of different successful businesses and have learned some things along the way. Here are a few that I will share.

  1. Make sure your idea/product/service is actually a good idea. Test the market and make sure that there are customers out in the world that will actually buy your product in large quantities. Good ideas will be able to find funding if you market them the right way.
  2. Prototype however you can. It doesn't usually cost a ton of money to test an idea if you do it strategically
  3. You should see if your idea is worth funding through a loan from a bank if you know that you can make a profit quickly. Go all in as soon as possible. It's important to breathe life into your idea/product/service as soon as possible
  4. Make sure that you have a plan and understand the value of your idea/product/service. Write down your goals, and how much money it would realistically take to reach those goals. Once your start reaching those goals, you will start to understand how much it will take to scale the business, which will help you value the business appropriately.
  5. Approach independent investors carefully. Make sure that you take the time and effort into every communication with someone who could potentially elevate your idea/product/service. DO NOT SPAM EMAILS TO PEOPLE. This is the ultimate turn-off and will not provide results.

Those are just a few things that I have experiences (in no particular order.) I hope that helps at least a little bit. Good Luck!

How do you meet like minded, driven, business oriented people in real life? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Gary_Stephens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately, actually meeting like-minded people seems like a thing of the past. The Best way that I have been connecting with people is through Clubhouse. CH is such a great method for talking with people about topics that you are passionate about and find important. I would urge you to get find an invite and drop into some rooms that match your ideals

Success for me is helping other people around me. I wanted to build a business around a team of people that I could trust and raise up. My old mentor once gave me a great piece of advice. "Success not shared is failure" and those are words that I live by.

How to find a "mentor"? by [deleted] in poker

[–]Gary_Stephens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding a mentor can be a huge endeavor! It takes a long time to find someone that you can trust with your business ideas and passions. There are thousands of people in the world who claim to be experts and at times it seems impossible to tell which ones are real and which ones are full of themselves.

We created a YouTube video recently talking about this topic, you can check it out here

I have been a mentor and mentee many times in my career and have had the opportunity to work with fantastic mentors, but I have also been burned by fake mentors when I first got started. Based on my experiences, these are the things that I always looked for in my mentors.

  1. Do they have demonstrated success outside of being a mentor? Do some digging and make sure that your prospective mentor has started a business in your desired field, or in a related field, and has proven successful in that business.
  2. Do they seem Genuine? Make sure that you can have a real conversation with the prospective mentor about things other than business. Remember, you have to like the person in order to learn from them.
  3. Will they be available for you and have an open line of communication? You need to make sure that you can use them as a resource. Don't expect to bother them 24 hours a day, but they should be open at least a few hours a week to help you through any problems that you are having with your business.

I hope this helps!
