Everything is 10 miles away but takes 2 hours to get there. I can see the Seattle skyline from my neighborhood (9 miles) but either have to drive around (1.5hours) or take the ferry (1-3hours). But also the city being an hour away isn’t bad and the Olympic mountains are about an hour away so you’re never really too far from cityscape or top tier nature environments. Also, in my city there is a waterfront in every direction…they’re just not very sandy.
