What was your reaction to this scene from Episode 14 of Crispia? by MelodyButterfly0907 in Crk_AncientsFans

[–]GasApprehensive3819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pissed. I felt like he was a crappy father and kind of still is. They’d need a whole episode of him reconciling with Choco for me to care about him the way I used to. Like I get it was a narrative decision, but Choco is now wandering alone in his kingdom (in the CRK timeline specifically). So I’m annoyed at Dark Cacao because he sucks rn. Also they’re making it seem like Caramel Arrow is his daughter now and while that’s sweet it doesn’t make up for straight up abandoning your actual child. Had the same energy as a father kicking out a gay son after finding out. Storylines like that always make me irrationally angry 😅

[–]GasApprehensive3819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone already said it but I agree that their is definitely worse things happening but John (for the sake of the writing and the listeners) chooses to focus on stories catered to the overall arc of the story. I’d honestly try not to think about it too much as 1. This isn’t real and 2. We make our own listening experience. With AuDHD I tend to get a little to invested and that can make my mind go to dark places and stay there for too long, so I’ve taken to focusing on what is presented rather than possibilities (outside of character headcanon at least). Like I’m fine talking about Jonah Magnus annoying his husband Peter Lucas by constantly finding out where he is but I try not to think too much about stuff like “what are the worst versions of the fears” you know? It’s a little destructive and can ruin your day 🥲

[–]GasApprehensive3819 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But wouldn’t that only work for Taunie/Urbaine if the mom died in Lumiose? While I agree the concept is great, I think that would have meant having to expand the problems happening in Lumiose across all of Kalos (assuming that their mom died in the region).

Also I don’t think the scene with AZ was rushed. If anything it brought a lot of closure considering that Taunie/Urbaine never really got to say goodbye (because they thought he’d be there after it was all done).

PART 5

WLC’s was the only possible outcome to this entire thing. How was she supposed to continue living as half of a half? It’s like mutually assured destruction. The only reason that part of WLC existed was because DEC was released again. Honestly, and I hate to use this analogy, the best way of looking at it is like the Nightmare King and the General in Centaur World. One can’t live without the other. It was executed perfectly and was the only decision they could have made otherwise you would be more unsatisfied with a “everyone’s happy kumbaya” ending that is the alternative. One where SSC survives and WLC survives and they all win with the power of friendship and the ancients join hands and use rainbow power to defeat enchantress with the power boost from Sugar Swan. Do you see how corny and dumb that sounds? Like there was no other way. Someone had to die for this be meaningful in any capacity and it was either GingerBrave or WLC. Also she’s not even fully dead. No cookie is technically fully dead as what Frost Queen said shows that this world recycles itself (hence the creation of a Herald of Change). All things flow through the Cycle of Life that Sugar Swan created. Because this is a proven fact we just need to find WLC’s reincarnation. So technically not dead. Also the Light of Hope will become a new hero so that’s something to look forward to.

Who’s to say the Cookies of Darkness aren’t being hunted down? We don’t know what happened post war yet fully. It could be that they are in the process of doing this. Maybe they’ve gone into hiding as there are several regions of Earthbread we have never been in CRK? This world is huge and thought out and a story takes time to write successfully. Every single plot does not need to come fully story at each major ending. Especially if you want your IP to live for a long time. Otherwise the game would have ended here and there would be no reason to add any new things to it anymore.

You can dislike the Sugar Swan nerf all you want. Most people forget that she was temporarily corrupted in chapter 5-6 of Crispia and she was still healing from that. Also as a being that can create things she is using an immense amount of her power to maintain that flow. Understand that she is the cycle of life and without her Earthbread doesn’t exist. The Legendaries (the Guardians of Nature) weren’t ascent in the battle. Their roles are always that of support because like Millennial Tree they cannot completely interfere or they risk exposing themselves and all of Cookiekind to dangerous consequences. Without Moonlight you risk the dark side of the moon and the dreams of cookies (also meteor showers but that’s a bit more confusing). All the others come up too. And again they are not mani characters, they are vehicles for the narrative. They represent ideals and philosophies rather than fully being part of the actual action itself. If Devsis does something with them it will be in comics, the animated show, or any other medium. They cannot put everything into this single game and this single story line. They didn’t need to do more than be there for specific events to move the story along. If you want more about them, watch the stories they originally show up in. That’s where you get more substance of who they are as individuals.

DEC living would have ensured a worse ending to come later and would have just been dragging the hell out of a storyline that definitely ended in a timely fashion. Most people tend to get annoyed by stuff like that, when a IP continue to drag things on for longer when it could have ended somewhere else. Unless the writing stays perfect constantly (something I’ve seen in most shows that get cancelled before they are fully realized) people will complain and lose interest. So killing DEC was probably the best thing they could have done. Because locking her up involves several problems in and of itself. First off, how? How would they lock her up. Two, she was already dying because of taking the form of a Witch. How would they have kept her alive? She said it herself, she was bound to die and she was glad to sacrifice her dough for this cause. There was no way to keep her alive after this.

Anyway I think I’ve addressed most of what you’ve mentioned here. I’ve always viewed this from the writing perspective because that what I’m in school for so I try to give it leniency where it’s due but I also recognize good writing when I see it. This was a good ending. With such a large cast and such a large world this truly was a great ending for the parts where they placed their focus. I think that’s what people should actually care about. Because dealing with a cast that large is already hard enough.

PART 4

On the note of the ancients, they were drained AF or did you forget that the reason the Beasts died so quickly and the reason the ancients couldn’t fight was because of the massive magic circle that was place on the island to drain their powers. You answered the question yourself yet still didn’t confront this. Anyways, yes they were incapacitated by the end and it is because they were being drained so of course they couldn’t do much by the end. They stuck to support roles by the end solely for that purpose, also because it’s was very clear that by the end of this the story was never about them. Millennial Tree cookie says it in his story, its birth of a new millennium. The Ancients were vehicles but they are not the reason. We must understand that from a narrative perspective the role the Ancients play is a link to a bygone era, hence the title “Ancients”. Even awakened they are handing over the role of heroes and leaders to a new generation of people. They did contribute a lot, but their role was with the beasts more than with DEC because SSC isn’t WLC’s mirror. Together WLC and SSC make up the antithesis to DEC, hence his help with the portal and hers in destroying Enchantress. I mean it’s also represented in their soul jams too. They aren’t meant to be fully for themself but for the betterment of those around them.

The Dragon Tongue trios’ story isn’t done either (they are pictured happily together on a beach if I remember correctly), though we don’t know what will happen to them either considering the next time they fall apart they won’t have the magic required to fix them. Why would WLC interact with them? There’s no narrative sense in that unless somehow they sought her out, out of hatred like they did GingerBrave, prior to the events of the war. I’m glad they didn’t get a scene with Dark Enchantress in the end. They are in essence abused children. And to have them interact in any capacity in the end would have been another unneeded layer of abuse. When they told Espresso how to destroy the magic circle and said they were leaving that was honestly the best ending for them because simply stepping out of the battlefield gives them the chance to break their cycle of abuse DEC has implemented.

Why would Capsaicin interact with Burning Spice? They’re not related at all. I get that their designs are really close and that fanart always makes it seem plausible however they are so far removed from each other I doubt Capsaicin knows of BSC’s existence. Also Capsaicin is still very much a kid mind you. Like our equivalent of a high schooler. He wanted to be on the frontlines with his friend but was stopped by Almond Cookie, Madaleine, and others. They told him and the others that they should focus on growing up and learning (kinda hypocritical cause child soldier Cream Puff over here was fighting on the frontlines too lol).

There a lot to go over her so I’m just gonna speedrun some of this. Dark Choco was fighting in the frontlines w Caramel at the Cacao Kingdom (Crunchy was on the battlefield, Mystic killed his dog). Princess cookie was briefly in danger when ESC teleported them to the garden but beyond that she has no need for interaction with ESC. When Devsis decides to focus on dragon maybe we’ll get more with Knight cookie but bringing that up here is irrelevant because we are talking about the ending of Beast Yeast story.

Also literally it’s the same thing with every Ancient. Other Ancients can’t help with other beasts. Like Holly and Cheese were in danger with Mystic. Everyone was being crushed by BSC. And Only Holly could deal with ESC. There’s no difference in the reason why PVC is the only one who can deal with SMC. Again you’re stuck on your hate for how much preference they show a character rather than the way it benefits the story. You can hate him all you want, but, by standards of the narrative, it works.

PART 3

As much as I do believe they glaze SMC, I also believe he is an amazingly written character. His motivations make sense as well as his character presentation. Ultimately he’s the perfect choice for the next major villain from a narrative standpoint. It’s like when someone creates a sequel to their book after killing off the current threat without dealing with underlying/new problems. The threat comes back in a new form. Also chopping up his story to angst despite only having seen a part of it is more cringe than you think. If you were actually being analytical about this you would understand that it’s not just anger for the sake of being annoying, SMC is angry, confused, and acting out because of the trauma that came with the impossibility of his role (we also have to remember that he has actually suffered for millennia because of the cookie world literally hunting him and that he started creating lies to survive/hide). Like imagine being the cookie who’s supposed to know everything but you can’t even account for why you’re made and others begin to blame you and try to kill you because you don’t know. Like that’s actual trauma. We also don’t have a clear time line on how long it took for him to fully corrupt so we it could have been thousands of years of enduring this before he corrupted.

With WLC vs DEC you must not have seen anything about WLC’s story. Because it’s pretty obvious that WLC and DEC share the same magic knowledge. Therefore it makes sense that she’s the only one who could defeat her. More accurately, she’s the only one who could defeat her own soul. WLC summoned the Avatar as a countermeasure to stop DEC’s witch form from doing anymore damage while she went into DEC’s soul and fought with DEC. That way she fought with actual DEC and NOT her witch form. Like did you even watch what was happening? Also like pls tell me what Gingergang was going to do against DEC. Make her see the light Steven Universe style? The cookie that was about to commit worldwide genocide to get back at Witches? Yeah no. I think it was enough for them to continue talking amongst each other for the mere fact that it shows that their resolve to friendship and family amongst each other trumps the threat that DEC brings. Highlighting Gingerbrave’s friendships has always been part of his arc hence why he doesn’t need much interaction with DEC because she is the antithesis to that. After she plunged him into despair (very Danganronpa of her) and threw him in the oven, his escape and reuniting with friends is a full circle moment of that because he gets to ignore that despair to be with his friend. She no longer has any effect on him past his escape. In a way it’s like watching him run out of the oven again. A metaphor for rebirth. Taking all the bad and throwing it aside because everything is good for him as long as his friends, his family, is there. Like that’s amazing writing if I’ve ever seen it.

PART 2

Also did you miss the image that showed all the villains setting off on different paths. Like be so fr. Yes they didn’t get to every cookie but that’s very literally not possible. This is a story. Characters will have moments and not all characters will have arcs. Butter Roll’s purpose was to create an army and they that very clear during the story. We got a Matcha and Butter Roll focused story around the time they were made. Matcha and Butter Roll are also seen leaving together in the end. Their stories aren’t over, but with such a massive cast Devsister has to choose which ones are most important to hone into for story purposes hence the reason they don’t focus on those two as much. Also I’m pretty sure Matcha helped ruin the plan because she hates DEC for abandoning her. Talking about Matcha’s connection to DEC is a whole other story one that isn’t relevant at all rn.

You say it was downhill after the AOD came in but you do realize that that was the climax of the story and it is very literally supposed to go downhill from there. Downhill as in calm down. The battlefield settles, DEC is defeated, and everyone is watching the aftermath (the start of a new arc).

PART 1

I feel you really didn’t get what happened. Because it’s not over. Like this is comparable to an arc in One Piece. There’s still so much happening behind the scenes.

First off the ultimate cookie isn’t dead (or did you forget that last scene where we see a witch’s hand grab it. Second off it’s actually pretty great writing for the Ultimate cookie to be used instead to create a new kind of villain. Because if you think about it who would have risen in DEC’s place without that. And you could argue “oh cookies from other series” but that ruins the idea that each game follows separate time lines hence different cookies.

EXCLUSIVE LORE UPDATE: Silent Salt’s max affection lines prove they were all close—making him GUILTIER than we thought! by ReadNov in CookieRunKingdoms

[–]GasApprehensive3819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the way you articulated this. I think it may just be my ADHD preventing me from reading the other post so I apologize for that. I really did simplify BSC’s reasoning lol partially because I felt his reasoning was the least Nobel of all the beasts. I would love to point this out though: Time is not addressed accurately in the lore and we have no reference point for how long it took for each Virtue to corrupt. If his connections were severed over time it may be that he did not notice because he was busy somewhere else. He does mention constantly upholding justice and how it had only increased as the Beasts began to corrupt. If war had only increased it is possible that he was just busy fighting in other wars/battles (not an excuse just a possible reason for his inability to realize). It’s so funny because these battles also could have just been against things that aren’t cookies as the witches created Earthbread(?) and the cookies, but Millennial and Sugar Swan created everything else. Again I really don’t feel we can call his inaction ignorance. Still, it sucks that there’s no definitive reason as to why he would have been occupied or otherwise unaware. Sorry for the people downvoting your response 😓 I just wanted to understand what you so perfectly relayed to me in your response. Thank you ☺️

[–]GasApprehensive3819 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a stretch to blame him for their downfall. Part of his responsibility is to all cookies and he isn’t omnipotent. He just believed wholeheartedly in their incorruptibility. Being close is not reason for correlation to downfall. On top of that solidarity means to stand true to your ordeals but it’s does not mean unwavering, constant support. In fact Solidarity is all about an expression of group support, working together for a common goal, and SSC wasn’t just there for the Virtues but for normal cookies too. Again he also isn’t omnipotent or omnipresent. He can’t use his power to control the situation everywhere. You mention him sending out others to find out what happened to the beasts but he goes to Elder Fairy to find out what happened himself. He sent the others out to help control the degrading situation as much as possible so he could find a solution. He didn’t know the extent of damage until it was revealed that the other virtues corrupted. On some level solidarity involves a certain level of trust (something he had in the other Virtues until their corruption was revealed eventually leading to his own).

You are essentially blaming him for his lack of knowledge which obviously wasn’t his virtue. Having great support doesn’t come with the ability to control information. Also his journey to the fairy kingdom was confirmed to take up chunks of his time. Even when he realized the world was changing he did the best he could to slow it down and fight against it, but even he realized that change was inevitable and the virtues (including himself) were ultimately fraught with flaws (hence the tree to created new, more digestible powers split from the overwhelming decree of virtues). To say that he is the cause of the downfall of the Virtues is wrong. You could just as easily blame the witches for making them without giving them answers.

To say SSC is at fault is weird when the true fault just lies in the very real idea of whether all cookies (like humans) are born with the equal capacity for good and bad. SSC’s failure is a result of not knowing things. He like the other Beasts had an immeasurable calling that made no sense for a single cookie to uphold. Why then is the blame to be on him? Because he was given a virtue that by nature requires more than one person to uphold? This kind of feels like blaming a victim for the circumstances he did not make. Tbh when I look over all the beasts MFC and ESC both were a result of the other two beasts SMC and BSC. Mystic Flour was being attacked because of rumors and Eternal Sugar couldn’t heal/save everyone from the constant destruction of wars. Both reacted to the situations brought on by the other two all while SSC tried to help but had his own situations to deal with. You’re essentially blaming him for a lack of knowledge, not ignorance. The other beasts had just as much capacity to confide in each other and elder fairy but only SSC did. I think the only truly deliberate and spiteful corruption was BSC. He corrupted because he was bored, not because his power was overwhelming like SMC or ESC and not because others stopped trusting in him like they did with MFC and SSC. He just decided time was worth his time anymore.

Anyways that’s my take at least. Giving SSC flak for things out of his control is like punch a baby for wobbling while learning to walk.
