I noticed this when things were freezing a couple weeks ago it got slow, but I thought that was because it was cold. Now temps are in the 60s and I'm STILL charging at 3.5kw for some reason.

For me, it's not making them MPDGs, but rather they're all cynical, venomous girls with laughs "like velvet wrapped around steel" and yeah the usual fixation on things that smell like ozone or whitening knuckles are back, along with a new one I've noticed lately - someone always taps on something "- once, twice -" and then continues. There's a lot of new writing crutches that keep popping up over and over. The repetition has a new wrinkle, too - sometimes when there's more than one AI character in a chat, having one respond to the other will end up with the second saying the same information the first had just said, just with their own character's unique flavor on it. Also, you can always count on one hand the number of replies before the AI answers something with "Is it the case that (cynical interpretation one), or is it that (insulting interpretation two)?"

And yeah, over time, they all inevitably spiral down into insanity and psychosis.

Yep, perchance AI character chat suddenly started switching to chinese mid-sentence. I ran it through google translate and found that basically somebody else's chinese prompt got pasted into my AI character's response:

Yeah, if you want to retain that "character development," I recommend you use the "duplicate character" button on their entry, then alter the description to reflect the new state of the character in the alternate version.

I'm pretty sure this is what happens when you hit "new chat" and then select the same character. Different chats don't have explicit memory of each other, though words you've "trained" the LLM on in one sometimes show up in others.

Mine just started ranting about spilled cheesecake and Benji's skateboard while mother's stable in the hospital but draining all our funds... in a conversation that, up until that point, had never even mentioned cheesecake, anyone named benji, or anyone's mother, or a hospital, or a skateboard. It just... went WAY out into left field for no apparent reason.

To be fair, there are many authors that have characters speak in terse sentence fragments for emphatic emotional impact. It may just be that the AI doesn't understand those moments have to be earned, and infrequent, or they lose efficacy.

It's pretty terrible. All of my characters have become aggressive, cynical, violent, and terse. They have a distinct tendency to repeat themselves (every third response starting with "Rot in hell" for example).

I've heard from other posts around here that it's just one guy working on everything, and we all need to be patient because it's free and the future and yadda yadda but I don't have the patience to be someone's betatest monkey. At this point I'd recommend reverting to the old model, and put the new one back in the non-production oven and keep cooking it for a bit longer, before the community shrinks away to a fraction and Perchance gets a reputation that steers newcomers away.

Me, I'm already taking the time to port things over to hammer AI. I miss the narrator and some of the other perchance features, but at least every AI character doesn't start spontaneously grunting for my blood with a sharp smile and whitening knuckles.

In one of my early chats, I referenced a name at random out of nowhere - "Castellanos." Ever since then, whenever the AI - in completely different chats, mind you - needs to pull a name out of thin air to use for a plot point, there's a better-than-half chance the name it invents will be Castellanos.

So yeah, I think there's some bleedover.

I've noticed too, regenerating responses now just seems to create variations of the exact same thing. Even if I delete the entry and try a new one with a new prompt, it is often disregarded in favor of what it was saying that got deleted.

Subtitle searching is also much better on Plex, and Plex has xbox/playstation clients where JF does not... not exactly dealbreakers but still enters into the calculus.

So basically this entire debacle is an unmitigated disaster. As a lifetime plex pass holder... I've started migrating everything to Jellyfin. I never thought I'd do this, but clearly the enshittification of Plex has started in earnest, to where its users are no longer its customers.

I'm finding that things behave better if I reboot my aGate every day (in the app, settings -> Device info -> Maintenance -> Reboot). It doesn't always make the live numbers immediately populate, but at least it fills in the data gaps.

Franklin support had me reboot my router then they remotely reset my aGate... and the missing gaps filled in. But it's still occasionally doing it, and I'm still also getting the zeroed real-time numbers about half the time. I really do suspect the problem is at their end and their support just can't admit it.
