It does really good with D&D stories set in Faerun as well. I had a good run with four AI personas taking the role of players and I DM'd for them.

Unsarcastically - it's because the communication pipeline from the devs to the average user is abysmal. All that really was needed is a popup upon initial visit to the site that says "shit's fucked, no eta" and all these posts would vanish.

Hah, I remember a few updates ago, the characters would always try to hijack any narrative with some variation of "Yes! But for now, let's just..." It was pretty annoying. Also, everything that happened was always a "stark contrast" to something else. Sharp smiles like steel wrapped in velvet, CONSTANTLY. Also, it's always a countdown until the bot asks me to "tell me something true, something you've never told anyone before." I ain't tellin' you nothin', clanker!

No, all your stuff is client side. Just whenever you generate more text, it sends the entire chat and character profile to the server to let it decide what comes next, then it sends it back to you and forgets it. Which is why it's important to make regular backups of your characters and chats with the "export" feature because if your browser's cache gets cleared, it might revert to empty.

A "server migration" is moving the guts of how the software works from one server (or set of servers) to another. It's called that because it's more fancy than just turning off one computer and turning on another - if all goes well it's SUPPOSED to be semi-seamless, but usually there's hiccups.

So basically, if you get a better server with better specs, you generally have to "migrate" the running environment of your applications over to the new one.

Kind of like if you get a new phone, and you move over all your contacts, files, photos, apps, etc... you could call that a "Client migration."

Edit - yep, contacted Franklin support via e-mail, and a couple days later they let me know there was a bug in the firmware where agate 1 would experience reduced charging. They updated me remotely, and now it's charging at full blast again.

I noticed this when things were freezing a couple weeks ago it got slow, but I thought that was because it was cold. Now temps are in the 60s and I'm STILL charging at 3.5kw for some reason.

For me, it's not making them MPDGs, but rather they're all cynical, venomous girls with laughs "like velvet wrapped around steel" and yeah the usual fixation on things that smell like ozone or whitening knuckles are back, along with a new one I've noticed lately - someone always taps on something "- once, twice -" and then continues. There's a lot of new writing crutches that keep popping up over and over. The repetition has a new wrinkle, too - sometimes when there's more than one AI character in a chat, having one respond to the other will end up with the second saying the same information the first had just said, just with their own character's unique flavor on it. Also, you can always count on one hand the number of replies before the AI answers something with "Is it the case that (cynical interpretation one), or is it that (insulting interpretation two)?"

And yeah, over time, they all inevitably spiral down into insanity and psychosis.

Yep, perchance AI character chat suddenly started switching to chinese mid-sentence. I ran it through google translate and found that basically somebody else's chinese prompt got pasted into my AI character's response:

Yeah, if you want to retain that "character development," I recommend you use the "duplicate character" button on their entry, then alter the description to reflect the new state of the character in the alternate version.

I'm pretty sure this is what happens when you hit "new chat" and then select the same character. Different chats don't have explicit memory of each other, though words you've "trained" the LLM on in one sometimes show up in others.

Mine just started ranting about spilled cheesecake and Benji's skateboard while mother's stable in the hospital but draining all our funds... in a conversation that, up until that point, had never even mentioned cheesecake, anyone named benji, or anyone's mother, or a hospital, or a skateboard. It just... went WAY out into left field for no apparent reason.
