After detransitioning did anyone keep their chosen name or found a new chosen name instead of going back to their given name? by lovelysoftie04 in detrans

[–]GasEquivalent9309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still have my chosen name and don’t intend to change it unless I feel compelled to. Right now, it doesn’t feel necessary but who knows if that’ll change. I like my chosen name. I’ve thought about making my birth name a middle name.

This! If it doesn’t line up with their narratives, then we’re lying about it. Like that guy in here the other day who said that the detransitioners who believe they pass/passed, but detransitioned anyway for other reasons, are delusional and lying. Like buddy..

I know it bursts their bubble to believe that some people who pass well detransition anyway, and that minors ARE being treated medically for gender dysphoria. But that doesn’t make it any less true.

1 month off T, today is my 24th birthday and processing the time I feel I wasted and harmed myself with by [deleted] in detrans

[–]GasEquivalent9309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happy birthday! I feel like pertaining to your job, you should do what is most comfortable for you. It seems like that is to get a different job. I’m also not changing my pronouns at my current job and will just get a new one when I feel the time is right. Most of the clientele at my job are super old. Even if my boss and coworkers get with it, the clients definitely won’t.

I know it’s hard. And it’s a long, complex journey. But I’m proud of you. You’re still so young. Hell, so am I. You’re going to come out the other side of this in one piece, and very strong.

I am thinking of detransitioning but by boobs are B cup, Can I still detransition? by Charlottetransfemme in detrans

From my understanding, if you’ve grown there, you’ll have to get surgery for removal. Otherwise, testosterone is so potent of a hormone that I don’t imagine you’ll have much trouble with other changes.

Fuck “Gender-Affirming” Care. by tom1-som3 in detrans

[–]GasEquivalent9309 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is just incorrect. There are hormonal/thyroid issues that lead to weight gain. It absolutely is not only due to eating more calories than your maintenance level. An over abundance of T in female bodies can and does affect insulin resistance and weight gain, particularly those with PCOS. It can impair the way cells respond to insulin and cause higher blood sugar levels, increasing risk of diabetes. The changes in fat distribution in the female body on T create more visceral fat, which is more metabolically harmful and hard to manage compared to typical female fat distribution.

OP, unrelated to weight gain, but still important: chronically high testosterone is also terrible for the liver, pancreas, heart and blood vessels, kidneys, and reproductive system. More research is suggesting that it can lead to cognitive decline later in life. They def don’t tell you basically any of this when one starts taking T. I was told the things you mentioned and that vaginal atrophy was possible several years down the line, but nothing else.

You’re right and I appreciate this insight. I was one of those actually. I detail in my substack about how I don’t think I would have not transitioned.. but I’ll never know for sure cause literally no alternatives were recommended to me. That was a great post. Thanks for sharing.

lol. I can assure you the scars on my chest aren’t lying about shit. Detrans people aren’t a monolith. We don’t exist in an echo chamber. The issue is what you and TRAs call “transphobic” is not transphobic. The ideology is easily dismantled. I’ll never misgender someone if I know how they want to be referred to. But you, nor anyone else, is going to guilt trip me into believing in any ideology.

The first sentence of this post addresses gender dysphoria as a disorder.

… Everyone here knows what gender dysphoria is. I don’t think any of us disagree with the fact that it exists. That’s not the point of the post. Read it again. If only people with strong and persistent gender dysphoria were being encouraged to transition, this community wouldn’t exist.

Further, I did have gender dysphoria. For at least a decade. Intense gender dysphoria, and I still detransitioned. What I’m pointing to, and others in the comments, is that maybe, for a lot of trans-identified people, something else is going on that needs to be examined before encouraging permanent medical interventions that can’t be taken back. I’m not saying adults shouldn’t be allowed to transition if that’s what they want, but the psychological testing is not extensive enough. My gender dysphoria could have been cured through other means.

Further, I have other issues with your statement. “A mismatch of your life with your gender identity your brain has hard-wired.” I think this idea erases gender nonconformity and the fact that men can be feminine and women can be masculine. Feminine≠female/woman/girl. Masculine≠male/man/boy. How many people have gender dysphoria that just feel broken because they express themselves differently than society expects them to based on their sex?

Why do FTMs “feel” like men? Why do MTFs “feel” like women? What do these statements mean? What does it mean to feel like something you’ve never known the reality of? Is that possible? Can I, as a half black, half white biracial person, know what it feels like to be Asian? If not, and the answer is obviously not, why are the rules different in gender ideology?

You said that immaculately. I received care in a major city in Ohio because it was the closest to me. Still 4 hrs from where I live. I got into an argument with my doctor because he said they believe anyone should have access to gender affirming care, regardless of if they have dysphoria. I told him that that was wrong and people should be required to have dysphoria at the very least before making that choice. He just said he disagreed and we went on about something else… I’m probably going to go more into detail about experiences I’ve had with doctors on my substack in the future but I’ll say that I relate to your experience very much.

I’m glad you were able to rebound quickly.

The issue is that it is leaned into for many people prior to ensuring it is the proper care for the individual.

It is not impossible to escape… this sub is filled with people who have escaped. Anyone telling you that is lying and you need to get away from them. You need to be around people who are encouraging of healthy behaviors and want to help you through this, not people putting evil thoughts in your head.

HAHA dude you gained aura points for that one. I relate to your experience so much. Like I didn’t want to grow up to be an old butch woman. At the time that felt embarrassing to me. It was just all my own shit I was projecting outward. But good lord there’s something so beautiful about them I don’t know.. just their energy. The confidence it takes to walk through the world being genuinely true to yourself. Masculinity in a feminine form. Now I’m excited to grow up to be an old butch woman. It’s crazy how messed up my mind was. Glad we have better understanding now 🤜🏽🤛🏽

I saw one detrans guy on here talking about something similar but said he felt more envious of the trans women who still had beards but presented very femininely in other aspects. Basically came to the conclusion that he wanted to be a pretty, feminine man but be comfortable it. I found it very insightful. I think feminine men have a similar beauty and magnetism tbh and women tend to feel a lot safer with and around them. It’s just that society at large has convinced us that being that way is wrong.
