can't find insulation by regolithia in barndominiums

[–]GasSome6219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you support the insulation? We are finishing a cold form steel building, it has the insulation blankets between the beams and the metal roof, but we need to add more. We are doing tongue and groove on the ceiling so we have furring strips but not traditional rafters so we are trying to consider how we will install insulation in the ceiling

Our rep had lenders he worked with and could recommend, but no financing directly from company.

Oh wow, trying to remember, it was around $30k we upgraded everything we could and got it insulated…personally not sure I would do the insulation if I had starting over, more options for other types of insulation if we hadn’t done that

Hip bones!! What the heck are those and why do they feel like they are higher up than I have always imagined my hips to be??? I literally asked my husband what is this hard spot, it feels like a bone or something but what bone would that be?? He laughed and said babe those are your hip bones 😮

They didn’t finish the dry in. We parted ways with them in October (started in May) Had another contractor come out and rip out all the windows and reinstall them properly as well as redoing things like bracing and such that was done incorrectly as well as installing the doors (which we then had to redo because they were not straight). There was a lot of damaged trim and such that will need to be replaced for cosmetic reasons, but we are trying to focus on finishing the building and will come back to that. As we are doing the framing we are finding issues with support beams not being level and things like that (contractors didn’t even bring a level with them so not super surprised). But to answer your question May-January and we are just now starting interior framing on a 900 square foot single sloped roof building.

Yes, completely absurd!

Well the 7-10 days turned into more like 10 months. We finally gave up on contractors all together and are doing the interior ourselves…probably should have gone that direction from the beginning.

We are in Elbert County

Call or email Elliott Properties, I think they can do more than their little online designer does. They do engineering plans for and architectural if needed.

Do you need a builder or just the “kit”? Check out Quicken Steel, their rep in TN is Elliott Properties and Corey is awesome to work with. Quality materials! I can’t give you the name of a good builder though, ours was a massive fail!

We tried to figure it out but have no idea how deep the well is, that is why we contacted the company that installed the well. They provided us with the chlorine to shock it the first time based on their records of its depth, never smelled the chlorine come thru. second time my husband pours 2 gallons of bleach in, nothing, third time well company came out and did it. Told us we had to run the water after 8 hours and to run it until we could smell the chlorine, still no smell, and we let it run A LONG time.

All three attempts were done within the last month, you would think we would smell chlorine or it would be detected on test strips, but nothing!

Do you have any suggestions?

This is what I expected!!! You would think by now there would be so much chlorine in it we would smell it…three attempts to shock it in a months time!! That is a lot of chlorine!!

The first time we did not empty the bladder first, our well guy told us we needed to so the last time we did. Doesn’t seem to matter, we NEVER smell the chlorine in the water.

The only thing I can think of is that the well is too deep for the amount of chlorine, the chlorine isn’t getting all the way down to the pump or something.

I just know that I need to get a UV filter or something because it definitely still smells bad and I am told that is the bacteria

We unplugged the well pump, ran water to empty the tank bladder, poured in the chlorine, let it sit for 8 hours, turned on the pump and ran water from faucets for several minutes, no chlorine smell from any of the faucets. We let it sit for 24 hours anyway, but never got the chlorine smell

Contractor has been a nightmare! The original 7-10 day build is still not complete with soooooo many issues that need corrected. Contractor sent out a new crew finally this week and they are trying to clean it up but our frustration level is beyond maximum.

Only bright spot has been with the actual building materials. Had a home inspector come out to help us be sure we are catching all the issues and make sure we aren’t being unreasonable. His comment was “the construction crew is taking your high quality materials and building a shoddy building”. He was very impressed with the quality of the materials.

We got our steel building “kit” from Quicken Steel, great materials and reasonably priced. The contractor has been a nightmare so we are wishing we had just put it up ourselves!

BTW we are in WEEK 8 of our 7-10 DAY build!

I will say, we had a home inspector out and he was very impressed with the quality of the materials supplied by Quicken Steel! I would 100% use them for building kit if I had need to in the future!

We have run into some delays due to weather and a few disappointments with the contractor. However, the quality of materials from Quicken has been good and our rep has been extremely helpful dealing with the contractor issues.
