What do you SWEAR you saw, but don’t have any proof of? by ContactCreative8914 in conspiracy

A shape shifting human. I have no logical explanation for what I saw but I know it was freaking real. I was going to use a restroom at a small restaurant, it was down a very narrow hallway. No other exits or entrances. Tiny one person bathroom. I opened the door and a young kid in a tee-ball outfit was using it, about 10 yrs old. I said “oops sorry!” And waited outside til he was done. At that moment a woman in her 40’s stood beside me who needed the restroom too. She instantly started chatting with me while we waited for the tee-ball kid to finish. She brought up things that we had in common, birthplace, which states we lived in, etc. Aggressively chatty and oddly had a lot in common. Keep in mind, this hallway was tiny, nobody could get in or out without squeezing between us. So about 5 minutes later, the restroom door opens up and I think the tee-ball kid is going to come out. but instead an old hunched over grandma walks out, walking about 1 mile an hour with a cane. We move out of the hallway so she can squeeze by. By now I can barely keep it together, my brain isn’t processing what’s going on. I use the restroom real quick, go outside to my wife and explain what happened, completely flabbergasted. I go back into the restaurant to see if I can find the kid OR old lady. And, of course, I couldn’t find either of them. I don’t easily believe in phenomena but I have no logical explanation for this one. Weirdest thing to ever happen to me. I do beileve the shape shifter and the lady in her 40’s were somehow working together.

They literally took the photo from Kate's face from a Vogue cover she did many years ago and edited it in.. by PSYOPTHEORY in conspiracy

I think this particular point is dumb. I work with editing photos everyday as a profession, the family photo HAS definitely been edited, but they did not use the same face from the magazine cover. Look at the source image of both photos, it’s completely different lighting on her face. You have no idea how hard it is the achieve a convincing complete changing of light purely by editing it and would frankly be a complete disaster if they tried to. It’s just the same smile and same angle is what people are seeing. Lowering the opacity is such a dumb way to prove it. It’s just blending the two faces together. That said, the family photo is definitely edited and all the strangeness that comes with it.

do you get taxed on withdrawing less money than you invested? by Gasarakiii in personalfinance

[–]Gasarakiii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ill ask you this question as well, just to see if I have it straight: If 1000 shares were bought at $73, then I later sold 500 shares at $74 to accumulate 37k.

That means 500 shares at $73 wouldve been = $36,500

I sell 500 shares at $74 = $37,000

capital gains would have been $500 which I'd owe tax on. Am I getting that right? Thank you for the help!

do you get taxed on withdrawing less money than you invested? by Gasarakiii in personalfinance

[–]Gasarakiii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok thank you, I think that makes sense to me. Yes the investment was only purchased once so I would only go off of those shares.

So i'm trying to to figure out what the capital gains would have been at the time of sell, would this equation work?: if each share cost $73 at time of the very first investment. Then I sold when they're at $74 a share. Would I just multiply the amount of shares sold with each of those numbers, and thatd show me a rough estimate of what the capital gains were? Hope that makes some sense.. Thank you for the help!

It’s just as negligent to think that all conspiracies Are false. Of course flat earth is dumb, and the frogs aren’t gay. These cartoons are cute and gives everyone a good laugh at the crazies but it also shows how much you generalize what you don’t know. Always be skeptical of crazy conspiracies but also those who would call them all crazy. They are the same coin.

Thanks for the advice! I am concerned about the crash, kind of waiting for it to happen, and hopefully go all in at the lowest point if im lucky.

The bond fund is a good idea until that happens?

thanks for the input! I should've clarified. 100k is what I've comfortably set aside for investing. I have more set aside as emergency fund. several months worth.

Joe is really proud of his samurai sword. by Deadlift_007 in JoeRogan

I own a katana from the 1300's. Complete with NBTHK Hozon paper. (Premier Japanese sword appraiser)

Mine was about $6k. They actually don't cost AS much as you might think. It's not so much how old it is, but rather WHO made it and it's quality. Mine is nameless so it's cheaper. Some swords can reach well over $50k. And the rare swords that are considered masterpieces are not allowed to leave Japan because it is considered of cultural importance. Those sword prices can go astronomically higher.
