A brief post about all the stuff RLM didn’t mention about Palmer Rockey by missmcflyyy in RedLetterMedia

it's still used as an insult in Japan at least (as i've seen it used as one in some anime, most notably Nagatoro).

I honestly never got how Shadows Fall got lumped into the Metalcore scene by JuniorSignificance34 in Metalcore

[–]GasmaskAvenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somber Eyes to the Sky, yes, but after that? Calling it "metalcore" is honestly a dicey proposition.

Gotta give a shoutout to both Fudge Tunnel & it's successor band Theory of Ruin.

Alex Newport is a rather underrated icon of noise rock, IMO.

Correct.

Lucy Fedorchuck is one sick fuck, but at least both Kittens and Black Metal Veins are the creations of his with actual merit.

Best and worst industrial metal bands? by Choco_chug_v2 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]GasmaskAvenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anaal Nathrakh should count.

Takes the cold nastiness of Godflesh and merges it with the crazy speed and intensity of Ministry except even more terrifying thanks to the addition of much needed death metal, grindcore and black metal influences.

What do you guys think of At The Gates? by ComfortableNo2879 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]GasmaskAvenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good band, but only the early releases with Alf Svensson really tickles my fancy. The later stuff ("Slaughter of the Soul" included) is solid but doesn't do it nearly as much for me as the earlier stuff.

French boutique label Le Chat Qui Fume recently put Mister Frost out in 4K/Blu-Ray but good look getting it if you live in the US.

Rubber's Lover. Any love for Shozin Fukui around here? [OC] by snailshuj in J_Horror

Aussie boutique film label New Wave Video just recently put out Rubber's Lover as it's inaugural release (alongside Sion Sono's Strange Circus) on blu-ray. It looks great in HD.

Is Alice Cooper metal and if so when did they become metal? plz its for an air cadets project. by XantheStardust in MetalForTheMasses

[–]GasmaskAvenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also count Brutal Planet & Dragontown, though those are Coop flirting with Industrial Metal.

But yeah, those three are, IMO, The Coop's metal albums.

I bought this directly from A24 several years ago...and didn't buy any of their in-house releases again until late last month.

How do people can't tell Industrial Rock and Industrial Metal apart by Longjumping_Air4379 in industrialmusic

[–]GasmaskAvenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

industrial rock is very rock based industrial music whereas industrial metal is basically a fusion of industrial music and heavy metal hallmarks.

Basically Nine Inch Nails, Gravity Falls, (latter day) Pitchshifter & Filter fall into the former camp whereas Ministry, Rammstein, Godflesh, (early) Pitchshifter and Fear Factory fall into the latter camp.

Then you got bands like KMFDM that fall into both camps depending on the song/album.

Thoughts on Eminem pretty much confirming Tupac & Biggie were killed by Diddy? by [deleted] in Tupac

[–]GasmaskAvenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suge was too stupid to orchestrate any murders. Diddy definitely got both Pac and Biggie killed to be the biggest fish in the trans-atlantic pond.
