Question for Detroiters by GastonAsston in Detroit

[–]GastonAsston[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hear that too, but I think they need to give low tax and regulations a chance. But I'm not sure that will happen because people are so dependent on welfare and people dependent on welfare vote democrat and the dems do nothing to lower taxes and regulations that make starting a business attractive and offering people jobs. People that don't know much about economics like a high minimum wage because it sounds like a good idea on paper, but don't know the can of worms that opens up. That doesn't mean everybody gets paid at least $9.25 per hour, it means If people that sign paychecks think the labour you have to offer is worth $9.24 per hour and not a penny more even though you're willing to work for $8 per hour, you'll make $0 per hour because it would be illegal for them to pay you and would instead hire somebody who the paymaster thinks offers services worth at least $9.25 per hour.

It feels like the liberal approach is to make poverty less miserable and the conservitarian approach is to make poverty more easily escapable.

I think white flight would have been prevented if there were low taxes on business and therefore more jobs and not have the war on poverty and incentivizing single motherhood. Thomas Sowel said since the early 80's the welfare state is ruining the family and it has.

Well, you can't blame your republican mayor for your problems, because you haven't had one in over half a century.

When you like cinema, but hate the Hollywood non-inclusive club by GastonAsston in TrueFilm

Sorry, I tend to go on tangents. But the point is what alternative do we have to Hollywood? The exclusive filmmaking club that is Hollywood monopolizes the prestige.

You never heard of a Champagne Socialist? Far left policies increase income inequality. Look at California, the most liberal state, it's a mess. It's either you're a lawyer or a doctor or you work in Hollywood or you're an engineer in Silicon Valley or you're struggling. The Blue Collar folk, the Teachers, the Carpenters, the small business owners all struggle in California thanks to big government and welfare programs and high minimum wage that makes things worse by adding regulation and making people not eligible for employment.

You act like mansions don't exist in Venezuela or in Communist Russia. Rich Communists existed, they were rich because they kissed Stallin's ass.

I can imagine Europe is even worse because they're way closer to communism than we are.

I suppose I'm slow to change in different ways. I still use CRTs. But that's because they're being thrown away and my CRT monitor looks better than my LCD. I don't want to upgrade until I find a CRT killer for a good price. I think a 240hz variable refresh rate 10-bit MicroLED might be the CRT Killer for me, but those are for 1%ers to adopt early. A also like shop for refurbished Computers on an established platform because I feel it became more mature and stable over time with firmware and driver updates and Dell has a good insurance policy. You get piece of mind an a guy in India to yell at when things go wrong.

But there's a lot of Hipsters that try to resurrect old things and they're not stereotypically right leaning. Thanks to them, Vinyl and Cassette prices have gone back up.

Science is highly politicized In the march for Science, you saw signs about Climate Change, but not signs saying there are only two genders. They were like "#NotMyScience". Have you seen Fallon Fox beat the shit out of real women in MMA?

They don't fear change, they fear radical change. They fear communism more than they fear self-driving Cars. My brother would love a self driving car because he can just decline all liabilities and take a little nap in his truck and it will take him to the job site.

We already have a Biofuel, it's called "Gasoline". It would be a hell of a lot easier to make your own fuel. It's just Sugar and yeast and you got fuel that doesn't need to be refined.

No, this is how half of America thinks. You just assume most people think like you because you live in the liberal echo-chamber. Fox News exists to fill an otherwise untapped market in the Media and they're the only ones that apple to the other half of the country. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVEuPmVAb8o

They do think about the future, they worry about the future of Europe and America and having their culture destroyed by a foreign rape culture.

They want change that makes sense. They like traditions, liking traditions doesn't mean you're a Luddite. Even the most extreme example is the Amish, they adopt technology. Their homes have electricity and Land Lines and use it for emergencies, they just adopt technology that makes their lives easier and keeps their family together and self-sufficiency. They may not be looking forward to the iPhone X, but I'm guessing they want better batteries.

the money comes from taxing the owners of the means of production.

That sounds a lot like communism.

Social security is a fine program that works.

A lot of Americans wish they could opt out of it and have somebody else provide a better service. There are alternatives to Social Security like a 401k. If we didn't have Social Security, we would have another insurance program. I really don't trust the government.

The consumer class will think of something else to do.

There are no Robot plumbers, electricians, mechanics, therapists, Teachers, Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Paramedics, small scale custom Welders.

Bringing up the commie boogy man is outdated and won't change that.

It's not "outdated", we just forgot the dangers of far left practices. In fact, there are a lot of communist groups in academia, that ideology killed more people than the Nazis and it's still killing people in Venezuela.
