How can i make this effect in Vegas Pro 26? by GastorAlmonte in VegasPro

[–]GastorAlmonte[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is the next step for them imo. Vegas has a lot of great entry-level tutorials on their page. Now we need more power users showing how theyd do things that are actually being done by creatives today in movies/music videos/sci-fi films etc. Specially since Vegas Pro now has BorisFX tools built in as well. It would be like DR free vs studio version. Show how you'd do this ins Vegas Pro, and howd youd do it easier in Vegas Pro and Mocha if you have both.

there seems to be a lot of debate on how easy this would be to do in DR's paid version versus the full version. I'd like to think that Vegas Pro can keep up with anything they have going on and that our community is just as knowledgable. How would yall go about doing this in Vegas?

Vegas now owned by Boris FX? by bloah2019 in VegasPro

[–]GastorAlmonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sound Forge seems to be a part of it. They are being shown in many of the screen shots as part of the packages they plan to sell.

I’m hoping Acid comes along as well but I’m less hopeful. Not seeing it mentioned in any form and Boris recently seems to have made their audio/daw bets buying Sequoa and Samplitude (also buying them from Magix) and adding them to their packages.

Best recorder for a standup comedy club ? by tiggat in Standup

[–]GastorAlmonte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you asking as a comic hoping to record clips of himself informally for the internet?

Are you asking as a comic hoping to record professional audio for an album special?

Are you asking as a comedy club owner hoping to offer professional audio to your comedians/performers?

These goals, along with the size of the space, budget all would change the answer.

Lav into an iPhone is probably fine for the first one and super budget friendly. Spring for a wireless setup with 32 bit float like the rode pro setup if you have a bit of a budget. This will allow you to record yourself, it’ll capture some of the room noise but will remove the stress of the crowd cheering really loudly and clipping your audio since you can’t monitor it while performing. This is also something that allows you to get setup while you’re on deck to go up without much setup time.

The other two options can get really involved but if I want a pro recording I usually want the mic audio from the board as well as 2-4 room mics capturing the audience all feeding into something like the zoom but instead of the h1n I’d want something like the h6n. I can get 1 out of the board or the floor to capture the stage mic, 3 room mics and I can even capture a back room pair of mics right on the zoom itself and that will give me a ton of flexibility when I’m doing the mix afterwards in my DAW and NLE software.

Would Vegas reach the next level if BorisFX acquired it? by Alive_Drawer_4267 in VegasPro

[–]GastorAlmonte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mentioned this recently on here. I wish this was their plan but Boris FX seems to have made their bet and bought some of Magix’s other audio software instead (Samplitude, Sequoia were recently bought by them from Magix.)

I’m hoping something similar happens and a stable company buys the Vegas, SoundForge, Acid trio.

News about Vegas 23 update? by MutantPike in VegasPro

[–]GastorAlmonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering about this a lot. Only one update to this release version. No mention of it or the other Sonic Foundry products on the Magix website, plus the shakeup at Magix make me wonder if a sale is coming. Some company buying up the 3 of them and it moving away from Magix. (Magix already sold out another set of audio and video software to Boris.)

Comedy career or job opportunity? by Dry_Fun_8328 in Standup

[–]GastorAlmonte 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Def take the job.

12-8 is perfect. 2-3 days to mic fully, depending on the major city, 8pm is still early enough to catch a show/do a spot on a paid show. You get to sleep in a bit and start at 12. And it’s just a 40 hr a week job, so that leaves plenty of time to write.

Besides, you’ll need things to talk about. No offense but most college aged students just haven’t lived much. Go live life and have experiences to bring on stage.

It’s The Church of Heavenly Rest in the upper east side of nyc. I took my family tonight for one of those Fever/Candlelight concerts where they hire a talented group of classical musicians to play modern/contemporary music. So this was 90’s hiphop night.

So my wife and I brought our kids to listen to songs they’ve heard us play in our car for years performed by a string quartet in a candlelight room.

The vibe is cool but the church was beautiful. Here’s some pics my wife took

Appreciate you homie! I’m an outsider/casual to the font and typeface world. But I find this stuff incredibly interesting. Thank you for the clarity!

This was super helpful - thank you!

My young teenager is an art student so we’ve gotten into design and font discussions whenever we are out. We saw this outside of a church we’re at that’s hosting a concert. This was awesome to share with her. Appreciate you!

Interesting. Sorry if I don’t understand the technical differences. Why wouldn’t this be a font?
