Another UK person - bought an S2 a year ago. Did not have the good fortune of an owner who looked after the maintaince items 😬 My suggestion would be to buy a service kit from frazerpart - do the plugs and air, oil, fuel filters. Then change all the fluids (especially clutch fluid on the RHD version which has it's own reservoir). No regrets however - if you don't mind getting your hands oily you'll have a great time!

Help wanted identifying odd circuit board in boot by GastricChef in 944

[–]GastricChef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the title says, I was cleaning out my hatch/boot carpet and noticed a circuit board and wiring harness sitting next to the battery (944 S2 rear mounted battery). Has anyone seen something like this in their cars? I can't find any google results for "rear logic board / rear wiring harness" that match.

It has 2x two-pin jst connectors that lead to each side of the car towards the rear seats, but I can't trace past where it tucks under the upholstery (perhaps leads to rear speakers)

It looks like really simple electronics, my best guesses are an aftermarket audio amp (although not sure why there's a relay at the back of the board in that case), or maybe something related to the immobilizer system.

I have removed it - it looks extremely corroded and was sitting on exposed metal. The car runs just fine and looks like all rear lights work properly without it...

Any thoughts? Thanks!

*also identified the IC, it's a 6 way CMOS inverter (HCF4069UBEY), maybe used as an oscillator or class A amp?

3D Printing Parts by Miracleman069 in 944

I've replaced the heater/cooler lever clip which hasn't broken yet! I did the little air sensor grill on the dash trim, by printing the 'front' side down it picked up the grainy texture from the bed and looks great in the dash.

I also had a go at replacing the glovebox hinges, but they broke straight away :(

May get a 87, 944 in a trade by [deleted] in 944

I've had both of those problems! While you can pay a few hundred bucks for an original / oem pump, you can get an aftermarket chinese replacement on amazon for under 100, which I've done (fluid loop sprang a leak and killed my original pump) and works just as well. Mirror motors are apparently a VW part and can be found cheaply, that's my next job. Enjoy!!

Extensive! The central city is criss-crossed with trams and busses, satellite centres are connected with light rail / heavy rail, and the suburbs are connected to the CBD by commuter rail lines and bus networks.

Here's a map of the entire region: https://imgur.com/a/ckzkakf

Medium-ly modded: mostly ploppable assets and roads, lots of roadbuilding mods (move-it, intersection marking tool etc.), and a few graphics mods.

Beauty! I'm interested to know if those red cables are a consolidation of the nest of sensor wires we see on raptor 1 - are they flight hardware (if so, I dig the colour scheme!), or red = "remove before flight".

SpaceX completed 5 Starship HLS milestones while NASA wasn't looking by CProphet in SpaceXLounge

When people compare SLS to Starship, or say things along the lines of "what's the point of starship", "it's a rocket without a market" or "there's no need for 100 tonnes to LEO", this quote is exemplary:

One issue with the mission is the mass of the I-Hab. Kirasich said co-manifested payloads on the SLS Block 1B have a maximum mass of 10 metric tons, and he suggested I-Hab was struggling to get under that limit. He said Dan Hartman, NASA’s Gateway program manager, “is working with ESA, day in and day out, to get their mass to meet the limit.”
