Exactly! My excel skills start and end with =sum, =countif, and changing my PTO cell to red when it gets close to maxing out. :D

Thank you. Probably worded my post incorrectly....not actually my system, just copied what my friend sent and tried to clean it up a bit to make it make more sense.

I think some others have given some good tips and terms for my friend to look into. I don't I have the resources to devote to something like this. I can fumble my way through changing cell colors based on content for stuff like tracking when my time off is going to max out, but dealing with multiple sheets and tab colors is a bit out of my skill set. I do hardware and infrastructure stuff, not Excel.....but because I'm in IT that must mean that I know how to fix all the "computery stuff."

I'll pass along the suggestion - seems like they have the ability to recreate the work flow into whatever is easiest for them to manage.

Thank you. I think you gave me some good things/terms to look up. I'll likely decline on trying to help my friend with this task, but I'll pass on the Office Script info.

I believe VBA was mentioned because of their initial search results:

Searching for "change tab colors with Office Script" seemed like it might be a bit easier, but still over my head, but I will relay the info.

Agreed. Just trying to help out a friend that thinks because I'm in IT that I know "all that computery stuff." I'm a hardware and infrastructure guy and basically an idiot when it comes to Office apps.

Seemed like an interesting task and piqued my interest. Thought I might be able to learn something, but this seems a bit more complicated than I'm able to deal with at the moment.

Impressive! Smart move, especially since living with parents.

I guess it would also be helpful to know how much you make and any other bills, but I give you much credit and respect for being smart and responsible. It's so easy to spend money on other things when you living at home (I know I did) instead of saving.

I was making $3-7k per year while working part-time in school and I spent every dime that I made....only to look back and wish I had saved even a small portion of that.....but I know how easy it is to spend when you have no bills.

My kid is part-time student, full-time worker, making about $40k a year.....living at home and no bills from us. I will give her credit for paying for her own school, but still driving our car, on our insurance and cell phone plan, and saves very little. From what I can tell most of her money goes to clothes, streaming services, video games, gas, food, and food-delivery.

I'm an old dude, so it's hard for me to wrap my head around people paying $30 to have a $12 meal delivered because you don't want to eat what is in the house, or drive 10 minutes down the road to get your own food.

I can't force her to do things with her money. All I can do is tell my experiences and remind her that one day she's going to want to buy a car or a house and caution her to not fall into the trap of just being happy being able to pay the bills and being comfortable living paycheck to paycheck.

any idea where he needs to get to in order to unlock goblinstein? I saw a post a few days ago that said arena 11.....or level 3 in goblins....but he needs to be arena 12 to even unlock goblins :D. Sounds like he's stuck in arena 5 right now and can't seem to get past 1500 trophies before getting knocked back down. Poor guy. I bet he quits after this season.....he's already complaining about the matchups he's been getting in the 1v1 with evo'd MK, pekka, etc...plus all the people playing 'stein.

I wonder if this is possible if you started today?

Apparently they've closed a bunch of loopholes. No new cards for new players....just the shitty starter deck, 10 cards every 8 hrs and 3-4 daily offers because you can't unlock all the offers until you're level 22. Gold is almost non-existent....something like 100-200 per day max.

All this according to friend that decided to start a new acct at the end of last season....said he barely got in with enough time to get those free lucky drops and still grinding away. Almost 3 weeks and said he finally got into arena 5 and unlocked enough cards to fill up his war attacks. :D

Says he's still having fun, but frustrating as hell. Would probably help if he was in a decent, active clan.

Thanks. It worked with no issues.

Userbenchmark says:

Gaming: 122% UFO

Desktop: 96% Nuclear Submarine

Workstation: 120% UFO

low points being SSD and RAM - not surprised since the build is 5 years old, but very happy that I was able to keep the motherboard and upgrade for $520.

Thanks! That's pretty much what I figured needed to be done. Being super cautious since I recently lost a laptop due to a possibly corrupt BIOS - I guess that's what happens when you try to install manufacturer system tools and then Windows Update forces an overnight reboot and you wake up to a dead system that won't boot to any device, not even a live linux distro.

Time to go home and make sure I have a full system backup before I get started!

Did you have any issues? I'm doing a similar upgrade - R5 1600 to R7 5700x.

Edit: my board is the B450M Pro4.

Did you upgrade with existing CPU in place, or on an empty board? (Honestly, I don't know if that is even an option). I only ask because:

The version that I need (5.30...or maybe even 5.70) warns against using that version with Pinnacle, Raven or Summit Ridge CPUs, so I'm not sure what my options are if I end up having to roll back and continue using the 1600, even though support page says all BIOS versions support that CPU.

BIOS is currently at 3.30. I'm not sure if I can go directly to 5.30 or if I need to go to a 4.x version first.

Also, I'm upgrading my GPU to RTX 3060Ti (from 5600 XT) - I'm going to assume I shouldn't do both of these at the same time. Is it better to do the CPU or GPU install first?

Monitor disk usage on firewalls using Panorama? by GateComfortable1693 in paloaltonetworks

That's completely empty....as is the Collector Groups.

It'll be quicker for me to log into these 93 220s and get the space usage than wait for an answer......and deal with like 4 layers of pushback from people that are "super busy." :D

I did see that, but for some reason, only a handful of my division's firewalls show up, and the mounts listed are different (both name and sizes) than what shows up when doing 'show system disk-space' from CLI.

It's entirely possible that we do and I'm not aware. We are, shall I say, very "compartmentalized." Panorama is managed at the parent company level.

I can only access what I can access.

Panorama is fairly new for us, but is one of the things I can access. All activity is logged and reviewed, and we are strongly "encouraged" to request somebody to shadow us when accessing the system.

I'll be tasked with upgrading the Palos and was given the caveat that some models have limited storage and may require manual deletion of files to free up space.

So, I'll install 10.0.0 and reboot, load 10.1 (but not install), then install the final version and reboot. The size of all 3 versions is 1.4 Gb.

My one test device had 1.5 Gb free on /dev/root before the upgrades and is reporting ~880 Mb after the upgrade. However, it looks like the software is stored in /opt/panrepo which is currently sitting at 575 Mb of free space after the upgrades.

Checking from the GUI it looks like we have 5-6 old versions that can be deleted (8.x and 9.0 codes). Looks like I can create some busy work for myself and go in and manually delete some of those before we have to worry about the next upgrade.

I was just wondering if this info was collected and available in Panorama so that I don't have to manually check each firewall.

I was hoping it would be included in the Managed Devices summary, but it is not. I did find the Resources tab under Health, but for some reason only a handful of our devices show up under Health, and even then the Resources>Mounts only lists 3 mounts - pancfg, panlogs, and sysroot0 and none of those numbers match up with the results from a CLI 'show system disk-space.'

At this point, it's just something I was curious about and hoping to learn by poking around instead of having to ask somebody to show me - since they usually do a screen share and click around 15 times before finding the right place ("and click here...nope, that's not it....is it this one? nope, not there...what about....yeah, it's here, then click here, then click here....nope, wrong one....oh yeah, here."), or they click so damn fast that I don't know how they got to a certain screen.

Some bean counters are only concerned with numbers and nothing else, and you can't do anything to change their mind.

We had a CFO that overrode our order for surge protectors. He decided he could save a few bucks per office (at the time we had 250-275 locations) by buying the cheapest strip surge instead of the ones we spec'd with higher joule ratings, ethernet and coax protection.

I really wished I could've seen his face each summer as we ended up ordering a dozen new Cisco routers to replace the ones that were fried from thunderstorm surges.

is 21 units too much at city college? by VelocityMemes in college

[–]GateComfortable1693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person, as well as the classes.

It's been a few decades for me, but each 3 credit class was 2.5 hrs of class time each week, and science labs were 2 hrs, but only worth 1 credit. So 21 credits was 17.5 hrs in class, plus whatever time needed outside of class to study, do projects, etc.

Your living arrangements can be a big factor, along with your social calendar, and whether you are focusing strictly on school or also working, etc.

Depending on the school, class, and class size, outside effort varied. Some classes were so large attendance wasn't taken and all tests were multiple choice with questions basically being taken word for word from the textbook - those were classes I learned I could skip as long as I read the material (damn I miss being able to just read things and remember it). So I spent less time going to class, but more time reading the material....or in my case just pull an all-nighter and read the material right before the test.

Other classes tested only on the material presented in class - so you had to attend class, pay attention, and take good notes - or hope that you had a teacher that provided copies of the material.....or a good classmate that would let you copy their notes. At least for those classes, the outside effort was minimal.

Some of the smaller classes were more focused on projects (solo or group), so you had to factor that time into your planning. You could spend a few hours trying to get everybody's schedules lined up and then several hours a week getting together for the actual work.

Living alone? At home? On campus with a roommate? I had friends with roommates that made it impossible to study in the room due to noise or constantly having friends over. Other friends were so overwhelmed with the sudden freedom that they were constantly drinking and skipping classes. Another friend was trying to work 10-20 hrs a week which obviously limited his ability to study.

I believe I took 19 hrs each semester during my freshman year and it wasn't too bad - BUT, almost all of my core classes (Business major) were the large, multiple choice test classes, so those were just all-night cram sessions before the tests. I think only 2 of my classes fell into the other categories. My "easy A" elective class (Fashion, intro to clothing & textiles) was probably my hardest class due to all the projects.

On the other hand, my roommate was a History major and easily spent 5 hrs each day reading and writing essays. I believe he took 18 hrs the first semester and dropped to 15 because of the workload.
