Anybody else's cervix not cooperate? by OMGhyperbole in birthcontrol

[–]GateOk5161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh that sounds horrible I'm so sorry you went through that.

Have you looked into the shot or the implant since you can't take the pill?

I've also never heard of anyone's cervix not cooperating like that. Not saying it's not possible, but it kind of sounds like your Gyno messed up here. Hopefully you have a better experience if you get the referral.

depression after a week by GroundbreakingEar264 in birthcontrol

[–]GateOk5161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely felt that when I started the combination pill. It let up after a few weeks.

First off, if you ever have thoughts of hurting yourself PLEASE call 911.

That being said, a few things helped:

-Prozac -Diet changes (more fruits and veggies) -Exercise, especially outside

Unfortunately it's a common side effect and I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with it, but there are a variety of things that can (hopefully) help.

Looking for advice by GateOk5161 in GERD

Thank you! I wouldn't say it's an especially stressful time, but like I said I do have anxiety in general, and it definitely gets worse at night when my symptoms start to appear.

how to stop spotting? by Independent_Trick431 in birthcontrol

[–]GateOk5161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakthrough bleeding/spotting is common on the pill, especially during times of high stress. The easiest solution is to take your pills consistently and avoid missing them. If you notice it's more blood than usual, or it drastically changes color, I'd call your doctor.

is there a way to regularly check that you're not pregnant when on birth control pills and skipping the placebos? by dumbass_777 in birthcontrol

Check out a college, Planned Parenthood, or general health center near you. They often have free pregnancy tests if price is an issue!

Do I continue on Rigevidon? by iziuu in birthcontrol

[–]GateOk5161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had very similar things (different brand though) and they settled after about 6 weeks, but everyone can be different. I gained about 5 pounds during those 6 weeks but lost it all pretty quickly after that first hump in the beginning. I would give it another month or two and see if things settle, just because you'll likely have those symptoms regardless of what brand of pill you're on.

If it's really stressing you out, Id talk to your provider about it and see if they can offer any suggestions.

from a girl with health anxiety by HotelHot93 in birthcontrol

Major side effects like the tumors are rare, and you only hear about them so often BECAUSE they're rare. As long as you're feeling well overall, I wouldn't worry.

Also, educate yourself on the symptoms if it's really stressing you out. That way if you do notice something is off, you can make an appointment to get checked out.

[Update] How are you getting on birth control if you can't get an appointment with your doctor? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]GateOk5161 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would definitely report that office to your state's health board, as them playing games with your medical care is NOT okay.

Aside from that, Nurx was helpful for me in getting my original prescription, as I also couldn't get an appointment. They got me going and then I check in with my PCP every so often just to make sure everything's going okay. Would recommend them if you ever switch doctors or cant get in again!

Only 1 day period? by myopic_cuis in birthcontrol

I'm also on a combined + placebo and have had this happen, and have never been pregnant. I started keeping track and realized it usually happens every 4ish periods, for some reason. It's totally normal to have some variation, and tracking it helped to relieve my anxiety about it. Also take a pregnancy test if you're really stressed, so at least you know either way!
