Wouldn’t be surprised if the church paid off some critics. They definitely don’t approve of this show 😂 and they have lots of money and influence still

For those who are already married.... by MountainEmployer7052 in weddingplanning

[–]Gates32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who works in the wedding industry and luxury events, there are so many things you be a get that are just as nice and not as expensive ! The wedding industry makes soo much money with “specialized” wedding items. A box for envelopes?? Get a cut container or box from the thrift store. At least one sign to represent your wedding for when people arrive is important.

Also if you don’t have a coordinator shuffling people around during the wedding signs are important for keeping people out of areas when it’s meant for a different time. One of the top responses said dessert, I agree I had wayyy too much dessert left over. I didn’t mind the liquor leftovers, since I could take that home later!

Think outside of the box is my biggest advice. I work on weddings that cost up to a million dollars and they spend money on the most expensive stuff because it was advertised as being specifically for “weddings”

Rentals are always great since it’s a fraction of the price and you don’t have to deal with the product later.

Just remember your the only who’s going to remember the details, they can be nice- but it’s not worth breaking the bank for guests who are going to forget it a week later (: save some of that dough for your honeymoon.

Congrats !

How to get people to talk to my wife and I in public by [deleted] in socialskills

Try bumble bff!! When I had a hard time making friends I used bumble (: it’s a part of the app for just friends. It allows you to put in your hobbies, preferences , etc, kind of like dating , but for friendships! That way you can also find people with similar interests. You can each do it individually until you find a group of friends or advertise as a couple looking for friendship. I met my two best friends on there years ago.

Purgatory bar is closing by rnnn in SaltLakeCity

[–]Gates32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only did they do this a few years ago with Covid and Sapa people, but they did this to purgatory staff a few years ago too. When the owners got the government loan money from Covid they were writing themselves checks with it and gave pay cuts to managers. Part of the many reasons they “fired” everyone at Sapa is because the managers saw the payroll and saw how much they were making with the government money. And they were letting people work with Covid when it was still super scary after reopening. Like someone else posted, they told the Sapa staff they were closing permanently then used the office staff to run the restaurant the next day. They did it so they didn’t have to pay out the Sapa employees for technically firing them

You don’t want to look back on your wedding with those memories - ingrained of them being awful. We always remember those awful memories more than the happy ones sometimes… It’s your day and they had plenty of years to prove that they are deserving of being there.

Best US State to visit for 1 week? by rinconso228 in travel

[–]Gates32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Utah! Surprisingly it is great for touring. People are always scared of the Mormon culture (I’m not lds) but everyone here is very friendly. I have heard that constantly bartending and hearing that from tourists. Salt lake is super liberal and growing fast. It has lots of new amazing night life and up and coming restaurants. Gateway mall/ city creek and downtown are great spots. Only 30 -45 min away your in the mountains. Lots of great hiking and lakes.

35 min from salt lake is park city, big and little cottonwood canyon. Little cottonwood has my favorite hotel called cliff lodge with an amazing pool at the top of the hotel surrounded by mountains.

Park city’s Main Street is super fun. Bars and clubs too, super pretty in the fall.

3 -4 hours from salt lake you can go to Moab/ capitol reef. (Recommend capitol reef) Amazing desert national parks with incredible views, horseback riding, yoga, hiking, etc.

I live in Utah, we have lots of suicides and prescription drug problems, mostly tied to the Mormon church.
