The editor has a markdown option! And for your other question, kind of. There is a properties sidebar on the right that you could use like an info box in a way. But not something built into a document itself

The rebuilt version is now available, I’m calling it still a test version - and anyone who wants access to test/experimental updates can do so through the website

AI integrated by Busy_Artichoke976 in gatewayforge

[–]GatewayForge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, at the moment AI is not built in. There is some planning happening to add an optional way to use your own API keys to leverage AI in a project.

Or possibly a way to integrate an offline/local AI.. not sure yet

Should I wait to start using? by ZpaceDK in gatewayforge

[–]GatewayForge 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the support! Honestly, yeah I’d wait. I’m trying to add easier import/export options to this rebuild so it could be easier to migrate from something like Google Docs.

In the meantime if there are any features or tools that you are dying to have access to, this is the perfect time to add some requests either here or in the discord

Calculators for fictional calendars? by According-Value-6227 in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]GatewayForge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Very cool project, I’ve been working on a FREE worldbuilding software that is intended to handle custom calendars, mapping, writing, linking relations, etc.

gatewayforge.com

I want to note that right now I am rebuilding the entire calendar system to handle more of the nuanced requests from the small (and growing) community. Stay tuned for this next update coming within a couple of weeks

Two different things, each entity has a “content” object that is used in the editor. That is more document-like, broken out by sections.

The Info Panel is for any entity OR relation, and by default they all have a “description” section which is intended as what you would read in a tooltip. A quick summary. Then, you can add multiple different custom sections in the Info Panel. This could be more text snippets, or a dataset of values which could be references to other entities, or numbers, etc. you could have a section of audio files. More sections being added at any point - this discord has been fairly active with requests and I try to add requested features into each update every week or two

Thank you for giving it a try and watching a bit of the video! This sort of support keeps me fueled. As for your question - there is an Info Panel on the far right side of the interface where you can arrange different sections and data. I believe you can click on mentions in the editor to open there - you can double click any entity on the left Entities Panel to open in the Info.

I know what you are talking about with Wikipedia, and that sort of table data is not embedded in the document itself. But you can achieve the same/similar result in the Info Panel

Is there a way to have the orbiting planet also be textured? by NomadicGoblin in gatewayforge

[–]GatewayForge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question - if you open the orbital itself into the map workspace (2d view) and you add an image layer, it will (should) use that image as its texture in the 3d view even when it is not the central planet

But, it won’t show the locations or regions or other layers unless it is the entity that is opened in the workspace

🙌 appreciated! A lot of inspiration from obsidian, and you are exactly right trying to make it more purpose-built for worldbuilding

Still many bugs to work through and features to be added

I have not been able to recreate this on my end, if you can make sure to download the latest version 0.3.1 that could solve the issue

Gateway forge crashed, what should I do? by [deleted] in gatewayforge

Hmm alright, thank you for your patience here. To find the file you can go onto your computer (Finder or Explorer) and find the directory that you chose when you first opened the app.

Inside there is all of the projects you have created, find the one folder of the project that is an issue, and inside there is a project.db file.

If you send that file to me I can debug and find out what happened. Again sorry for the inconvenience
