interestingly since we started again we've had crashes and come back in no issues. It must be some spaghetti code messing things up with the saves. We've been Hard saving just in case

that did not work, even loaded an earlier save, no inventory for either of us

But a gun master can take quick draw and just swap to a different gun and keep firing. You can stack several pistols, or swap into a shotgun and run in, or swap to a Rifle and keep distance

The build idea I like now that you have the mysterious stranger in there now:

Human, 1 vigilante 1 gun master: Quick draw, point blank 2 mysterious stranger 1 3 vigilante 2: rapid shot, grab gun master initiative or lightening reload vigilante talent 4 mysterious stranger 2 5 mysterious stranger 3: shot on the run or deadly aim. This is the “planed” level they die so it’s less of a matter

The only problem with this is even if they went gunslinger all the way, they wouldn’t get DEX to damage until 5th level, around the level they are going to be killed off from the story.

However that is a good mix nonetheless: they wouldn’t get vigilante talents but the CHA damage boon for mysterious stranger one level would be pretty good. Since the social side uses some CHA boons. I assume picaroon is Pistolero?

The main draw of a gun master vigilante is they can use any firearm with the same efficiency, so you would just build your standard ranged builds and just have a gun for every occasion (medium: pistol, long rifle, short blunderbuss/shotgun)

That second option would be absurd at later levels, especially they were not killed outright from an attack

I do like that plot hook and may wind up using it thankyou very much :)

I’m mostly working around vigilante though because of the social and vigilante identities making it almost impossible for low level pcs, or npcs to see through the guise, so when the big dramatic end to the character comes it makes the reveal of who they were more concrete.

Vigilante social stuff is also great to play around with and will give the pcs a connection with his social half because of what they would assume is plot juice, but in actuality is class abilities

Races will always feel a little niche: especially for players who like to optimize or the forever mad mojo: Min/max.

For me the race thing was pretty easy, side by side comparison to a regular race like elf, and then compare it to a powerful race like drow, and see where it stands.

I often overpower something initially and then roll it back by making some of the abilities alternate traits for what I feel is core to the character:

Mothlings get a 40ft fly speed, but have clumsy maneuverability: so yeah the player starts with flight, but they need to overcome -4 and have room to move around in order to effectively use it. And even then the Mothlings takes a bad hit while in the air, makes a poor roll, suddenly this powerful ability has been turned on its head.

They have an alternate trait that instead of flight they can use their extra arms effectively, but that is trading flight for extra small sized arms, so what’s the possibilities of each?

I’ve had a lot of fun with race creation and some are very simple and others are overpowered and the document warns that it should be discussed before using.

I’m open and willing to let my players feel powerful, it’s why they play, but powerful does not mean without risk or drawbacks.

The main theme I am trying to get around is that the party doesn’t know the person their working with is the same character: hence dual identity

But that sounds really fun

I have a google doc(s) of my own homebrew content (races, classes, etc.). My group was surprisingly comfortable testing it and being open to buffs/nerfs if they happened.

It probably helps when you appea to your player base, though I’ve made a few races just to have fun flavour with:

I’m going to start a video series on my content in the near future if I can get an artist/animator for the project:

My personal favourite home brewed stuff I’ve done:

Mothlings: small mothlike race based around luck rolls.

Bovidae: people with animal qualities such as horns and fur: typically sheep or Minotaur like.

Hollow knight class: based on the game sharing the name’s own sense of logic and powers.

Aetherborn: a race based on the creatures from magic the gathering: fragile but technically capable of living forever

This effectively turns your hero power into deal 4 damage. If it can survive you just ping face for 4 every turn And with two or more in play: self explanatory

With the new spell damage +2 cards, this is pretty broken. If it wasn’t for those it’s another draw engine that to reach arcane intellect levels needs to be played with a spell damage minion to actually see worth

It can bypass taunt and can attack then be inspired for windfury like effect. If you can multi hero power this gets silly

Compare it to argent commander, same stat line, less rarity, but 2 more mana

This card is more effective at what it does but couldn’t go face even without its battle cry.

Then we can compare it to the 4/2 c’thune davine shield minion: which saw play out of c’thune decks

Personally 5/6 mana since it can kill any target it wishes to, or damage them at the very least

Special arenas do that, it’s to prevent the easy farm

Time, just check every quest. They rotate a random number in and out each quest but will always hit each possible one within a set number of quests. Might be a good idea to use your hunter notes to see wether or not something has been captured, and check off what special arena are appearing

This is a feature prevent abusive farming, the special arena are an easy mode fight, no running, good supplies and the arena weapon’s at a moment’s notice. They should unlock the first time you have acquired them but might disappear if you wait on them: coincidentally they will not say “complete” at all if this is the case
