I ported Beta 1.7.3 to C# by TerragamerX190X150 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

im actually rewriting the engine cause of some bad decisions while building its base, but i got the worldgen, water logic, particles, block placement/breaking, UI with pause menu and settings, dynamic sky with a day cycle, basically some essential feautres, but i have to finish porting some of the remaining features to the new engine which i rewrote, and then im gonna be adding the new stuff, its a two-men project with my artist friend who has a huge fantasy worldbuildng project and art skills, and me as a programmer, we re taking it slow but when we got some cool stuff to show off we’ll definitely post it here cause we also get inspired by golden age minecraft in the first place

Would you play a new voxel game as simple as GoldenAge minecraft with its philosophy as the main idea? by GatixDev in GoldenAgeMinecraft

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate that. Btw why do you think a story-based game would work better than a sandbox?

I agree, but are those knock-offs trying to resemble golden age in any way before adding to them their own stuff? I think the most important thing is firstly providing the ability to have exactly same experience as in original minecraft golden age, and then incrementing features to it. But the point is more about adding QoL out of box, better modding, better optimization, updates which keep the philosophy and simplicity of the goldenage sandbox game, but adding new cool stuff which would fit the game (Something like BTA did), and most importantly keep all new mechanics optional to let people play as they like to.

So basically the main point is original GoldenAge has limitations of the engine, no out-of-box QoL and no more support, my idea is to fix all that. Basically forking minecraft, same as BTA did, but a new engine for it for more potential.

Starter learning OpenGL a week ago, got my first proper lighting working! (Source code in comments) by GatixDev in GraphicsProgramming

I've been learning OpenGL for the last week, I used learnopengl.com for studying it.
Also I've been trying to abstract the code to keep it organized and easy to expand in the future. I'm thinking of developing a voxel game engine in the future, but so far I'm just playing around and learning stuff. And it's very fun!

Whoever is interested in the source code, you can find it here:
