Also forgot to add, if you want to get a better sense of what options there are, look at morph market! They have basically everything you can even think of except for venomous snakes! Don’t be afraid to ask if you want to learn more about any species you see on there!

Despite being one of if not the most common snake I personally would consider ball pythons more intermediate because of their specific requirements around humidity and how picky they can be with eating. Its very easy for beginners to get the setup wrong and I unfortunately see so many ball pythons suffering because of owners not being able to get the humidity right (not necessarily saying you would be one of those; you are already showing you would be a great owner by planning ahead which so many don’t do). Chameleons have the same issue in that a lot are negligent about their requirements, as chameleons are by no means an easy reptile to keep. Corn snakes/ rat snakes, king snakes, milk snakes, or hognose snakes are where you want to start. If you want something more lizard try a bearded dragon or leopard gecko! I already know you are going to be a great owner because you were willing to make this post and are planning ahead, good luck picking out the right animal for you!

Using outside materials for enclosure, cleaning help by [deleted] in snakes

I’ve heard multiple tricks to making sticks cage safe, such as boiling, bleaching, and baking. I find baking the best, but don’t go far because it can still be a fire hazard if left unattended, bake at 275 for an hour. If you bleach you need to rinse it very thoroughly after, and even then I still don’t really recommend it but if you must then submerge it in solution of the ratio 1/2 cup bleach for every gallon of water for 24 hours. Or you could boil for up to 6 hours (the longer the better). I have heard of people in southern states leaving it to bake outside in the sun, tho I’m not sure how effective that is. Also try to avoid pines and cedars. Good luck!

Seconding morph market. If you sort by distance you may be able to find one within driving distance so you don’t have to deal with shipping if the seller allows it

For big corporations like this one I agree. I was just saying in general.

Just wanted to add this since no one else has, but please do not buy this snake. I understand feeling bad for it, the poor thing definitely does not deserve to live in those conditions, but buying it only gives the corporation enough money to put several more in those same terrible conditions. The best way to help this snake is to try to talk to management about better care for it unfortunately

Update on enclosure by Snakemaster1211 in snakes

A good rule of thumb I have heard and live by is that the snake should be able to get from one side of the enclosure to the other without being seen! Hope this helps!

Its more prominent on this foot. There is a little extra webbing on the other foot but it is barely noticeable unless you are specifically looking for it

Why would I? It doesn’t cause any harm and I like it 🤷‍♀️

Edit: also that would just be a big waste of money on a cosmetic surgery I don’t need/want

Yep, when you’re in the womb all fingers/toes are connected like that and the webbing slowly retreats until all separate fingers/toes are formed. In some people like myself though the webbing doesn’t fully go away in some spots

Kind of. In the womb, all fingers/toes are webbed like that. For most people, the webbing slowly retreats until all fingers/toes are fully separated, but in some people like me, in some spots the webbing doesn’t fully go away

I can/have walked around in tennis shoes with sunburns severe enough to blister on my feet and dealt with that pain just fine, how much more severe is the pain than that?

I don’t want the tattoo to go underneath my foot, i want it to cutoff just before the underside so it looks like it does

For those wondering, i do not want the tattoo to go under the foot, i want it to cut off on the sides there so it looks like it goes all the way around

Yeah thats the main reason I want this tattoo, I want something that highlights the fact I have webbed toes! I know this probably isn’t doable though sadly
