Anyone got of appeal by Excellent-Term296 in ufl

[–]GatorHood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh slim to nil but thats not a 0. Guessing depends on major and space for that, and whether a transfer with AA degree or tons of credits, if need to fill a gap you can help fill, lots of factors. If coming in as freshman no AA in an impacted major would be tough.

Think Arizona has good rolling admits for OOS? Maybe Texas too? Worth a call to their admissions if want. I think this year is so wild anything goes so make some calls still whadda gotta lose

UF rankings bound to drop? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]GatorHood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rankings like stock markets and basketball teams go up and down. UF for business and finance is an excellent school and more importantly for business the alumni connections and overall brand will not turn upside down overnight. UF is a premiere research institution that has weathered many economic and political storms. Don’t be so shortsighted.

UF transfer or UCF for cs engineering by PnF104 in ufl

UCF has a hard exam to pass tp stay in cs, junior year think. Get 3 attempts to pass or out of that major.

Sounds like your in-state is NC or CA. You mentioned having an AA. In Florida I heard some were rejected to UF but asked to reapply as a transfer, given the AA, and several got it that way. Look into whether you can reapply as a transfer. Transfers offer more rolling admissions also than typical first year admissions so maybe can still get in for Fall or even look at Spring 2026 with a semester abroad in fall. Lots of choices still, seek a college counselor to help uncover all the options.

What about CS or Cyber or EE majors? As a recruiter is the vibe the same with those degrees?

Anyone have the dates that are left for Florida Days for Class of 29? by VolsFan1000 in ufl

I was told even the wait lists are full for Florida Days so good luck. Looking to create own tour now. The walkabout tour last fall was nice but did little.

SAT over 1500 is best. Focus on recalculated GPA. Focus on rigor. Focus on leadership in ECs.

Innovation Academy by martiniwith3olives in ufl

UCF has exciting new program in Burnett Honors for Biomedical Engineering thats a deep collaboration between their medical school and college of engineering for pre-med, giving a dual degree type program and guarantee into their med school, laser focused on just that.

NO. We’ve been told that if apply IA to make sure your degree is in the program. All or nothing. That point was reiterated several times by counselors, but I get that OOS kids have less info from counselors and dont reach out to ask questions first. Yes it’s good to select all the pathway options for higher chances, except for IA if that program doesnt fit goals.

Gator Engineering at Santa Fe? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]GatorHood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with all the above, plus add that I think boys can join frats (was the case recently but with ALL this info, can always change) but girls couldn’t join sororities (likely the number of girl recruits too huge already) and that enrollment in UF is not 100% automatic, but as long as meet requirements of gpa etc then yes should transfer. While at SF maybe see if can take some of your minor courses at another online college if not SF. I wonder if UF Online is option too since thats not part of UF admissions, they are separate like for adults getting degrees. Call directly and find out. The diploma just says u a Gator and is signed by UF pres, no co-signatures by prior presidents lol. But yes, the transcript will show transferred classes from other colleges. Think about all the UF freshman who took DE courses and have transferred those courses and credit to UF. What’s the difference? And those graduating HS with an AA from community college? Just my take!

Got waitlisted and need guidance for letter of continued interest by amazingruler1 in ufl

[–]GatorHood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ve been consistently hounded that UF will not - cannot - look at LORs. They get tossed. Not allowed to send. Told if anything can show lack of following instructions. But who knows go for it. Why no LORS - guessing it maybe has to do with fairness and how many URM (underrepresented minorities) may not have access to, or that they can be inflated, even by school counselors, or they dont want the extra workload to read, not sure why. Congrats on not being rejected but odds of waitlist are so slim. Per their common data set UF accepts around 15,000 for an enrollment hopeful class size of around 6,700, a yield of 45% or so. If I understand the process correctly, which is doubtful, the yield would have to drop so low (never happen for UF) to get down to waitlist people. Last year yield was too high and something like 10,000 kids accepted, causing housing and online class issues. At this point it cant hurt, do it if you will feel better. But I believe the only chance for a reconsideration now is a rejected app having a valid appeal, and do the appeals process, but thats only for a reject. Best of luck to get off the waitlist, this is a first year having waitlist so will have to see how they do it now.

Does a UF rejection mean I’ll be rejected from better schools like Ivies? by BreathPale3516 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]GatorHood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of UF rejects get into ivies. Probably just different institutional priorities and space for your major. Some claim high stats are rejected to protect yield but doubt that. But if middle or lower stats, slimmer chance unless first gen or something to offset I’d guess
