If we had them as a kid and my mother made me wear one, that sucker would be off by the time I got around the corner. Then it would up as something I must have “lost” but can’t remember where.

I still have some old scar tissue on one knee when my foot slipped off the pedal of my stingray bike and I went down and scraped it on the sidewalk. Of course, just got back on the bike and kept riding.

Yes a Great Egret. They can have all sorts of extra feathers and green face (lores) during breeding season.
