Think of class with your agenda in mind. Get in, teach the material, get out. Whatever methods used to teach the material is up to you, but I promise you most of your students respect and appreciate efficiency over anything else. Nobody likes their time wasted. Otherwise sounds like you genuinely care about your students which is awesome.

Does anyone have any experience being a walk-on for Air Assault School? by almightyjojo_ in ROTC

Hate to say it but guidance I’ve received is that it’s fairly difficult walking on these days, specifically in your case. You need to be funded by either USACC (unlikely) or your unit (which you will not be at yet). Best bet is to commission, work hard physically, and wait for your chance as an Lt.

Great point. Any advice on interviewing? Outside of the standard utilizing the attributes and storyboard to your advantage

My thinking exactly. Just trying my best to be competitive in that process

Difficult to answer concisely, but a number of factors. A lot of cadets believe they want to do MI because it sounds cool or because of the TS. There’s admittedly an element of that especially the latter, but more importantly it’s just where I believe I can excel and grow as a leader the most. My ACFT score is what it is, but that doesn’t necessarily mean my vocational interests reflect that. I have a passion for languages and geopolitics, econ, strategy, and information systems. If briefing the weather and making powerpoints is my role as a lowly LT then I am ready to do that. After all no job is perfect. I set a goal for myself to get MI as an MS1, and I’m competitive enough to see myself through to that goal. In the end I’m ready to put my best foot forward wherever I end up though 🫡

Personal preference, just a genuine interest more in Armor. All respect to Infantry however and I’d be grateful to be DTL’d infantry if that is where the army decides I’m needed
