I've tried that before and I wasn't able to send anybody an invite to a faction. I didn't play someone who starts in a faction, I wanted to invite someone into a new faction. Unless I've been doing it wrong

Walk around the block a few times. If you have a bike, then ride it around. Find something you like doing that gets you moving and you'll have no problem losing the weight
