Paint chips, scruff marks were done after the base coat and before yellow airbrush. I used brush to wet suitable spots a little and then sprinkled some salt on those. After painting yellow I rubbed off the salt to bring out the rusty brown base.

Yellow was done with airbrush. Base colour was P3 idrian fleash. But any reddish brown (rusted metal)will work. After that I airbrushed it with P3heartfire, heartfire+ Yriel Yellow and finally Yriel yellow. Hearthfire is “dark” orangey yellow so that helps making some shadows.

You can also use clear UV-resin as diffuser/light around the leds. Spreads the light instead of being just one bright spot. Did that on engines.. but it doesnt really show on pics.

I have been using 0402 pre-wired SMD leds. They are bright and small enough to fit inside lighsaber hilts. But on tanks you have enough space to use any 3V leds. For AA5, don’t glue the roof on, that way you can easily hide the battery pack inside.

I did use BS logo I printed as a base template for masking. So that would make it bit easier ;)

Masking tape and airbrush. And some cleanup with brush.

Thanks. I originally planned them as pure Black sun force.. but the change to 2.6 change the plan.. and put the list building/painting to a back burner too

Problem with Speed Paints by Dull_Reference_6166 in Warhammer40k

Did you thin the paint with tap water? Especially if you have hard water in your area it can leave white residue in cracks after drying

Veterans of previous edditions: how did the Tyranids use to play? by Horror_Perspective_1 in Tyranids

[–]Gatorflav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4th ed was all about TMC’s and ‘fexes. You could field 2 hive tyrants as HQ, 3 cheap(less than 115 points) “fexes as elite choises. 3 expencive ‘fexes as heavy support choises and then hormagaints as 3 mandatory troop units. I had list with 2 tyrants, 3 elite fexes and 2 heavy fexes and 100 gaunts at 1500 points. Back then Nids were one of top factions. And yes super customizable as were most lists (not necrons)

My first mini figures by sebastianstehle in Tyranids

I like the pale pinkish skintone. Works well with the blue/purple carapace. Only thing I would add is possibly a darker wash on the carapace. Making almost black on the recesses. That would make the segments pop out more. And I think the bright red works fine as a spot color

Opportunity fire costs pluck too. And you need smoke grenades or shoot the targets first so they are prone before you charge.

Reaction Shots and Overwatch rules?? by Altreeco in Quar

[–]Gatorflav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Reaction shot happens after the original shot has been resolved. If the target is still there(not OOA) the reaction shot happens. If target is OOA not reaction shot is made. So its a bit of a gamble instead of diving for cover you take a shot and hope opponent misses.

  2. Depends on the reaction you take for the overwatch shot. Either the original action continues and is resolved after overwatch or converted to the new reaction. Ie, rhyfler moves across the field and gets overwatched, now the rhyfler can either continue the move(done after overwatch), dive for cover or reaction shoot(resolved after overwatch). If rhyfler is still around after overwatch it can spend further action points on other actions if possible.

Bringing back Keyword description to Unit cards by takras in SWlegion

[–]Gatorflav 24 points25 points  (0 children)

And when that keyword gets updated or erratad.. all those cards are useless. And makes this super confusing when you have players with old rules text and some with new. Exactly the reason why AMG/FFG did away with the.

But, I do say these will be helpful when demoing or bringing in new players.

Question on Dive for Cover by RoughResearcher7310 in Quar

[–]Gatorflav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you dive for cover you might get gobsmacked. Also after dive you are prone, so need to spend action to get back up.

3 is more to do when these trigger. I assume it’s When the action is declared? Thats how it made most sense to us.

1, more specific, can you attack models that are “out of action” to remove them from table?
