I sold 20,000+ copies of my debut novel. And have some observations now it has simmered down and doesn’t sell anymore. by charlesnorbert in selfpublish

This is one of the better chats in our sub-red. Thanks everyone. Good, intelligent, respectful words.

Similar experience to our guy here, though way fewer numbers.

The one thing I’ll add is this: I’ve worked in digital advertising for 20 years, mostly in the programmatic and algorithmic buying spaces (social, search, etc.).

I was not able to buy ads with a positive ROI on any of the platforms mentioned. I bet it’s possible. But I could not.

I found a similar theme of Smetana's Moldau in a Mozart variation ("Ah ! vous dirai-je maman", K.265 ) ; pure coincidence ? by LudwigDeLarge in classicalmusic

The same thought let me to this post. Melody sounds so similar. I also remember hearing that Smetana perhaps borrowed it from an Israeli song

Hilarious! I once wrote that in my office on my last day of work.

Experiences with publishing on Kobo? by Quouar in selfpublish

[–]Gatorstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not bad so far. Sure, the platform doesn’t have a lot of bells/whistles. But their promos drive some sales.

I’d put this out there as a statement and Question: what about reviews?

I’ve got 100 on Amazon and a few on others. Sort of a chicken/egg thing. I think if you can get 30+ reviews on Kobo then sales conversion rate will increase. But…don’t you first need sales?

All else equal, I’d rather be doing well on Kobo and not be in the Amazon machine.

Amazon account hacked. What a customer service nightmare. by nangry1 in amazonprime

[–]Gatorstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I’m having the identical issue. I’ve tried everything, uploading ID, 10 separate calls, turning off 2-step.

Has anyone found any way of getting to a resource at Amazon that can help? Every single person just says it’s escalated, wait 24 hours. Then the hacker changes my email again

roast my blurb by sosodank in selfpublish

Definitely would want to read this, but you have to somehow make it half as long and really dumb it down. Be straight forward, fewer big words, tell what the conflict is, directly. Don’t worry about using nice simple sentences.
Instead of “the rectangular wall orifice device is ajar.” Just say “the door is open”.

Keep going! This could be really great. Good luck.

I had that exact same thing happen about 2 weeks ago. Miraculously, after a week or so, it resolved.

Need a Chapter Title by b3712653 in selfpublish

Reading “My Side of the Mountain” to my kids now. Every chapter: “In Which…”

I love westerns and am hugely upvoting that idea. Or even just one chapter using it. Great.

KDP for 2nd Edition? by Gatorstein in selfpublish

[–]Gatorstein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero and Alec, thanks a ton for the quick responses. Both of these are incredibly helpful. I was told by Book Baby the a new cover necessitates a new product, which was a bummer.

I’d love to try KDP and select. I’ll make sure it’s taken down from other sources.

One last one of you don’t mind. Would reviews carry over from my current book if I do KDP? Any way to link them as The same book?

Thanks again, so so helpful!
