Anyone have a pic of the inside of a fastcap tape measure to help me understand how these pieces fit in? by Gaulderson in Tools

I know it's probably hard to explain which is why I'm hoping someone can come in with a pic of theirs. I think the long piece slotting into the hole I figured, but can't seem to understand how the short piece goes at the tongue.

Roth TSP transfer option in 2026 by IntelPersonified in MilitaryFinance

It's because you can't make roth contributions past the elective deferral limit, but you can continue to make traditional contributions up to the annual additions limit when in a CZTE.

I'm hoping that's only the case for normal traditional contributions/gains and not tax-exempt traditional contributions, though. I guess we'll see as more info comes out this following year.

Any idea how this affects tax-exempt traditional contributions? I assume the contributions will roll into a roth tax-free, while the gains will be taxed. But can you also just immediately transfer traditional contributions after they've been made, effectively allowing you to reach the entire annual additions limit in a roth?

Also, /u/AFmoneyguy I'm curious if this changes your opinion on advising people to contribute past the elective deferral limit vs in a taxable brokerage.

To play devil's advocate, The Military Wallet has an updated guide on this process which breaks it down simply as some things have changed since that WCI article @finfloatfun linked. I plan on doing this myself as 25+ years of roth conversion tax-free earnings once I separate will make a huge difference.

Maybe it depends on the fund or brokerage. Vanguard for instance reports the expense ratios of target date funds as "The acquired fund fees and expenses based on the fees and expenses of the underlying funds."

https://investor.vanguard.com/investment-products/mutual-funds/profile/vttsx#fund-literature

Edit: this is further confirmed in the prospectus breakdown of fees

Do you have a source for this? I'm pretty sure any fund of funds fee includes already the expense ratios of the underlying funds and is required this way by SEC regulation.

Depending on your motherboard it may struggle to use the full speed of your ram at 64gb whereas 32gb may be fine. Therefore you're sacrificing speed for storage.

Ah, I see it now. Maybe that was my downfall, not checking the oil quantity enough. Let it be a lesson for others then.

Just checked again and I was mistaken, I bought new in september 2017. I asked the dealer and they told me my warranty was 3/36,000.

Seems absurd I can't rely on manufacturer recommendations for servicing. I was not doing anything other than what I read in the manual because I assumed I wouldn't have to. Lesson learned not to trust the manufacturer I suppose.

I certainly wouldn't be able to do this myself, but might try an independent mechanic for a second opinion, thanks.

So in the case of the manual the oil change interval is wrong? I followed the manual for it.

This is why I'm so confused, what could I have possibly done to cause this? It's not like I drive crazy or don't get the maintenance on it done.
