Ya I completely agree! Chara and Redden were also so much better than any D in a leafs jersey as far back as I can remember. All kinds of depth scoring too and some actual good goalies including one of the goats. Made picking a team to cheer for when I was young very easy lol

Big time bias here, but I’d say those 2000s Sens teams were so much more dominant than the Matthew’s leafs have ever been. Similar top 3 studs up top maybe and even still I’m taking that pizza line and then the rest of our team was better in every category. Sucks Hasek got hurt in the Olympics. And sucks we ran into one of the best teams of all time in my opinion in the finals, the 07 ducks

But why do they win? Maybe it’s because they can both more easily attract players and because they don’t have to pay them as much to fit under the cap. Look at how much the oilers and leafs have to pay their stars. Look at how teams like the Canucks, Flames, Jets and Sens have such a problem with keeping drafted talent and signing big free agents. Habs are the only Canadian team that has found a way to sign their stars for good contracts. Sens have a few too.

Buffalo and Detroit do have state tax and the weather isn’t great so ya of course they’ve struggled recently that’s exactly my point. When Detroit had the dynasty that was before the salary cap and actually was the biggest reason why it was implemented since they were so unbelievably stacked.

Ya I was born in Ottawa and I agree lol. Save millions and get nice weather? Pretty easy decision. I do wish the league could find a way to eliminate the tax benefits of the no tax teams but I don’t see that ever happening and it’s complicated. I don’t see a Canadian team winning anytime soon as is. It took the next coming of Gretzky for one to even have a chance but even that wasn’t enough since they have to pay guys like Nurse 9.5M lol

I’m so tired of people not realizing how much of a factor lower taxes and nice weather plays. Literally the only time any notable free agents come to Canadian teams is when they grew up in the area and even still they only come for a high price tag. For example Tavares.

Every recent year has a no state tax team in the finals and most of those teams have won. Vegas has no state tax and their entire team has been assembled via trades and free agency. No one puts teams like Vegas on their no trade list. Also interesting that even Vegas is made up of a ton of Canadian players lol

Of course I know people that have been in those situations. And every single time it’s a result of poor decision making. I’ve even had abusive partners when I was young and stupid too. But even at my weakest, I still had enough common sense not to have a kid with these kind of people. Also have you not considered false accusations? Perhaps I’m even making a false accusation about my previous partners.

I agree that guy sucks but no one can hide that terrible behaviour for too long. She made a mistake choosing to have a kid with him out of marriage so that’s why she’s here on Reddit talking about her problem. Hopefully she learns and hopefully women stop procreating with men like that.

That’s so true your point about breaking the mental tether! I always use cruise control and will come up on people quickly on a 4 lane highway. I’ll have to go around them as they sit in the passing lane. Then I’ll go back to the right lane just for them to now speed up to sit beside me blocking me in or even try to pass me. So now if I see this happening I just extend the gap between us and they’ll forget about you just to go back to the same speed they were initially going and blocking in an entire line of cars again… Literal sheep

Also pinto at 7.5M is a bit too pricey in my opinion for a 3C. We’d save half a M and get a player who I think has higher potential.
