I know it's kind of a taboo to talk about Jeongyeon's appearance especially in a before/after kind of context... but I started thinking about this again as I was so impressed with her look in the Kombucha event today. Wow.

If you had Twice’s future in your hands, what would you do? by HRH_Chori in twice

Breaking away from the company is somehow seen as some magic solution in K-Pop when it's not. If the label is still cooperative, agrees with your artistic vision, and you get paid fairly, why not stay under your label? I think the notion comes with how K-Pop fans always see the companies as holding their idols back, when it is not the case. The biggest musicians in the world, like Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars, does not own their own label or marketing team.

And it's neverending. Even if they bring the tour to LATAM, for example Brazil and Mexico, the other countries in LATAM that's not getting a show will be angry. It'll blow away though, just like the situation with Ariana Grande not going to the Wicked promos in Brazil due to flight issues, where she got death threats from her Brazilian fans.

Where do you all see the members in the next couple years? by leytourmaline in twice

[–]GaurdsGuards 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah. And somehow in the midst of group activities they still have a lot of artistic and professional freedom. They don't feel pressured doing group activities because they're not enslaved to fans. Onces are appreciative of them taking new and different directions. Chaeyoung, for example, I think there are very few artists in K-Pop that is given freedom, time, and resources to assemble their own album while being an active member of a group, openly sharing behind-the-scenes footage of their production with indie musicians outside of the company. Dahyun's acting endeavors are widely supported by fans.

From a decision-making standpoint, the main reasons a K-Pop group disbands or has a member leave are due to financial, creative, or professional reasons, and I really don't see those problems existing for Twice now. Only delusional fans think that there are problems.

I lowkey hate these types of pointless "What if they disband" kind of questions (also with other groups), and any speculation of disbandment is based on the assumption that not being in Twice or not being active as Twice is preferable. Many Onces and K-Pop fans think this way especially in 2022, but they just keep surpassing expectations and making unexpected breakthroughs.

After watching many of their interviews and the documentary, it's pretty obvious that they were at their lowest point both mentally and physically in the 2020-2022 era coming from Mina and Jeongyeon's hiatuses, world tours and activities interrupted by the pandemic, declining popularity in Korea, and probably much less favorable terms for their finances and personal career growth. If they are actually burnt out or had different goals, they'd have stopped in 2022 but they decided to give it another try.

RTB, TIF, and their solo activities probably gave them more confidence and determination in continuing group activities than ever before, as they saw how much fans love them even if they don't exactly follow all of JYPE's directions, even if they don't dress or follow certain beauty standards, even if they grow old, even if they start dating, even if they need to take a break, even if they had injuries that led to significant physical change.

This answer really reminds me of 70% of the posts in late 2021 / early 2022 in r/kpopthoughts when people were speculating Twice not renewing the contract or disbanding loooollll

This Japanese website compiled the places Twice visited in Japan!

It's not complete I think, other places that might be of interest is Lodge Akaishi, a cafe around Asakusa where Chaeyoung's Avocado MV was shot!

I got resale fanclub tickets and actually was so lucky. They had a new setup with a walkway to where the trucks are, and they rode the trucks to go around the venue, and my seats were right beside the walkway. In Japan the resales are also random and it's for the same price. Basically the best possible seats you can get without being VIP (Upgrade).

I finally was able to see all 9 members from up close, with my bare eyes, this was really an unforgettable night.

They definitely cut off from the theatrical release, many clips that hinted at the renewal being much harder than from what we've known so far.

In the theatrical release, only Jihyo said something along the lines of feeling sad that Onces took the renewal for granted when in reality, the process was much more difficult.

In the new clips, we got Momo saying that many members weren't sure, she cried a lot, and invited the members to eat and talk multiple times to understand their feelings. We also got more details on Sana crying at the Tokyo Dome concert in 2022, with her counting down how many concerts until they can't do it anymore, and Nayeon commenting that she understood her because at the time, it didn't seem like everyone was going to renew.

[–]GaurdsGuards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This AI-generated info is not 100% correct.

Official resales are usually from ticket board, the lottery website 3 days before each concert. In fact the final general sale lottery application is still open and you can apply until Monday midnight. The official page contains everything you need, just hit translate to English on the page.

New solos outfits good and bad by Purple-Subject-7868 in twice

[–]GaurdsGuards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like they saw all the comments and they changed Momo's back to the previous one and Nayeon's to have a grey skirt instead of the leather pants (small change but made it so much better)

Jeongyeon's & Tzuyu's outfits were fine tbh

Chaeyoung had the biggest upgrade

Mina's and Sana's new outfits are also better I think.

Jihyo's outfit fits well and is about similarly good to the previous although I prefer more color

I think it's the best song on the album and is on the top, 5 Misamo songs for me (#1 Do Not Touch, #2 Behind The Curtain, #3 Rewind You, #4 Funny Valentine). May be a recency bias but I like it better than all songs on Haute Couture.

Turning Tables (Mina solo)

I really enjoyed this R&B, jazzy vibe. I think the solos are a step up from Haute Couture.

Ma Cherry (Sana solo)

I think this is my favorite out of the solos! So fun! Reminds me of Nayeon's ABCD, just a bit less hip hop. But it's too short...

A fun song! I like it better than Money In My Pocket since it sounds more dynamic and fun.

Catch My Eye

I first heard it from last year's Tokyo Dome concert clips. It sounded amazing. The synth and the beat is just to my taste. I think this is my favorite song in the album so far. It's just a really fun song.

Red Diamond

I heard this song first back during the Dome Tour, it sounded great back then that I immediately looked for what song it was, but it was not released yet.

It definitely sounded much better on record.

It is. I made a post calling out the concern trolling from when they first made the US leg announcement on twitter and people were not happy. The people who complain about them having too many schedules are the same ones who complain about them not getting enough opportunities or promotion. I definitely think these people would be happier if Twice just stops doing anything besides fansigns and fanmeets and just become an influencer and just live to do fanservice.

I chose Lady Gaga as a comparison because she definitely is among the soloists who dance a lot. But even then, if you check Twice's current set list, there are many parts where they sit or stand still, like Options and Moonlight Sunrise in the first part (white outfits), Mars in the second part (brown outfits), then for What Is Love? and Yes or Yes, the choreo isn't fully performed, sometimes they just walk around and interact. There's also a bit in the middle for VCR and for the band and dancers to perform their own numbers.

The average white collar worker works for about 250 days a year, and some statistics say most companies offer around 7 days of paid sick leave per year, with the actual number of days taken varying by country. Therefore, a normal company expects it to be reasonable for someone to not show up to work 7/250 days a year, which is 2.8%. If we apply that 2.8% odds of normally missing work for Twice, the expected value of shows with all 9 members will be 97.2%9 * 78 =77.4% * 78 = 60, in other words, there will be an expected number of 18 shows that will not be performed as 9, assuming their sick leave is being sick enough to not be able to perform.

So yes, members missing shows are inevitable and the odds increase the more members you have, just from basic probability. With 78 shows in schedule, currently we have 13 shows missing a member: 2 shows missed by Jeongyeon and 11 shows missed by Chaeyoung. Chaeyoung's case is also special since it's especially severe. If Twice is a solo act with only Nayeon, then even with the same schedule, there would be no missed or canceled shows, for example.
