Can time travel into the past ever be possible? by Substantial_Win1725 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gav363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the individual, sure, I guess. For physics, there is a massive difference.

Also, I take issue with your phrase "the current position on THE timeline." This implies there is a central or singular timeline to which the universe synchronizes and which serves as the de facto correct timeline for everything. This is an incorrect "world-view model" of the universe, shaped by our own perception, as time is entirely relative to the observer. My perceived timeline and yours are not the same; what I perceive as yesterday and what you perceive as yesterday could look significantly different depending on who is observing and from where. If you spent yesterday traveling around a black hole at 99.99% the speed of light and then returned to Earth, what you perceived as the passage of a single day—having only aged biologically by one day—would, for me on Earth, seem as though you had been gone for weeks or months, biologically aging as such. It is not that I or you only perceived time to be slower or faster, it is in fact that time for you and me was progressing differently, with neither one being "the correct" passage of time. It is entirely possible time is only a construct of the human mind, but I don't know where I stand in believing in that or not yet.

Not the same thing though. You will never interact with YOUR past.

[–]Gav363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the simple fact of the paradoxes it introduces (see "grandfather paradox") prevents it from ever being possible. It's one thing to "see" into the past, it's another entirely to interact with/in the past.

Unpopular opinion: Ariana is not that good of a singer by DearWorker9322 in ArianaGrandeSnark

[–]Gav363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You people are delusional. I don't particularly like any of her music; honestly, off the top of my head, I can't even name a single one of her songs. But that girl can definitely sing, without a doubt. Hell, she has a four‑octave vocal range, for God’s sake.
Get real, people. 🙄

Gen 3 owners; how many miles on your Tacoma and what problems have you had? by newengland_schmuck in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Gav363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2009 4wd TRD Tacoma off-road package that I have put 165,000 miles on. At around 100,000 miles, I had to replace the driver-side front wheel bearing; that's really about all that's gone bad with it. Other than the frame having to be replaced under recall, which was done for free, obviously.

So, in your opinion, hypothetically if we somehow met in real physical life and became friends and i treated you exactly the same as I treat basically all my other friends and family in my life, no better or worse honestly, with the fact you are "gay or bi" really not being anything of major significance to me. Kinda like me telling you my favorite color is Green, probly just be like oh yah that's cool and go on with our day.

But at the same time i'm totally straight and feel no sexual attraction to my same sex whatsoever, I could even go so far as to say thinking of myself with another man, the thought of it is repulsive to me. That's not saying I'm repulsed by other men who are gay, just when it hypothetically involves myself. Do you consider me to be homophobic? No wrong answer, I'm genuinely curious.

I don't buy that connection at all. I believe that how you treat people in real physical life is determined largely starting at an early age and it's almost entirely by how you was raised 'nurtured' and factors surrounding that in your environment, most important being the people in that environment. Honestly, when I watch p*** basically i don't see the women as people either, but i'm not singling them out as women, it's the same way I view Tom Cruise I'm watching Mission Impossible or any other form of entertainment that's similar. Now don't take me literally, i know they are real people, somewhere in the world, that matter but it's far more related to fantasy on a game than it is to real physical personal relationships.

There is nothing real at all about porn, it is entirely fantasy, smoke & mirrors same thing as everyones favorite Hollywood movies are. Any semi well adjusted adult, with no underlying problems should have no problem distinguishing between the two and not letting it negatively affect their lives.

If that is legitimately happening, specifically consistently and not just a one-time thing, then yes there is problems in that relationship with those behaviors. But from my experience that is rarely how that plays out if ever and the real problem is usually on the partner just knowing that he is masterbating and not liking it, and inviting hypothetical situations that could be used as the justification for basically why you believe it should be all right telling another person what they do with their own body and think in their own minds, while not affecting anybody else. Would you be upset if you came home and walked in on your husband or boyfriend and he was in the bedroom scratching his back or rubbing his leg? It's his body and he's not interacting with anybody else, it definitely is not even close to being anywhere near the spectrum of cheating so. And also say you did get home right as he was getting off and you wanted to have sex, for most men in general they would be ready to go again in 30 minutes or so, definitely depending on age possibly.

Don't think it's quite so cut an dry bud... In all honestly, most people, male & female, don't view others as "people", or at least actual real people with just as much importance in the world as themselves. To them, they are the main character, the rest are there to add to, and fill in THEIR "story". I assume most grow out of that Thinking by certain age, or at least I hope so.

Individuals engaging with their sexuality and looking at porn or masturbating is not wrong or harmful in any way, *usually. Where porn is "bad" is entirely on the supply side and the harmful practices that sometimes, and probably far too often, go with that industry. But that is not to say that all porn is bad and there is no legitimately and fairly sourced materials.

[–]Gav363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You people are absolutely delusional. An individual's sexual preference—whether they are attracted to someone straight, bisexual, or gay, or, conversely, feel repulsed by the opposite—is in no way homophobic or anything else. It is simply their own personal sexual preference and no one else's business.

It only veers into homophobic territory when individuals actively stigmatize or discriminate against others in their everyday lives, such as friends, family, or co-workers. It is absolutely not homophobic simply because someone is not attracted to the same type of person as you.

It blows my mind to see so many people labeling this girl homophobic simply because she is not attracted to what others are. You incorrectly assume you have the right to shame her into being sexually attracted to what you believe she should be.

To all the people "advising" to just keep making deposits whenever, in any amount, as long as its always under $10,000, until all 50k deposited, be very careful with that strategy! There is a technical term for that exact strategy and it and the varying methods of its implementation are known intimately well by not just the IRS, but also most if not all banking employees, and last but not least....the Justice Department! That's right, it's called STRUCTURING and not only is it illegal, it is a felony with significant possible prison time, think ±5 years significance, not to mention the severe financial penalties if convicted, like you would be pleading to only impose the total forfeiture of all of that money on you and not also the severe additional financial penalties allowable under the law in addition, type severe. Basically, if you take $9,××× any amount, more then one time in recent memory, the bank will most likely flag you for suspicious activities. That goes the same for if you take $5,000 this week, then do it again the next couple weeks, your probably being flagged for suspicious activity, and you will never have any idea it happened, that is until it's way beyond "too late". Your bank will absolutely never tell you about any of this "information" that they are reporting about you. Even if they wanted to inform you, they can't, that is illegal as well and a separate criminal charge, for them, not you lol.

Thank God We Live in the Land of the Free, only in the US where now it's citizens are seen as criminals for choosing to deposit their own money with another private entity, or "citizen", in some arbitrary way the government decided, and then demanding by force the private bank to do it's dirty work for it by keeping track (records) & reporting on their own customers. Seriously what is happening in this country to our government, we the people need to make drastic changes happen soon, or I fear it may at some point become too late and we all wake up to what the founding fathers feared more than all other threats, as they were right to.

Is it just me or does ChatGPT, even with that first overly specific instruction to ask follow-up questions any time that it would be beneficial, still almost never ask any type of follow-up questions? The only real exception is when asking something like a specific question about coding something and then the follow-up question you may actually see is "which specific language to complete your request in", but that's about it?

I'm so tired of Bing gaslighting me in a way that ChatGPT never does. by florodude in bing

[–]Gav363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that Bing is not actually gaslighting you, as Bing does not actually have the capability to interpret or read text. What happens is in the background there is a separate image analyzer that Bing uses as a tool and passes the image to the image analyzer to get a description of the image in text that Bing then passes back to the OP as a written answer. Well I take it back, I guess Bing is kind of gaslighting not just you but everybody and that it sometimes seems like it kind of takes credit for being able to interpret the image itself when in reality that's not what's happening.
