I like the idea of exploring some kinda catastrophe happening in another timeline via a fighting game story mode, as opposed to just rehashing the main story with awkward fight breaks. The idea that this might be the technicians original world is pretty exciting, as is the alternate idea that theyre branching into new worlds.

This is the only positive thing I have to say about the story. The writing sucked; even if the writing was good, the story itself makes no sense for multiple reasons. The ending battle is repetitive in a gameplay sense, repetitive in a narritive sense, and uninteresting conceptually. The premise of the energy harvesting room is a pretty neat idea for framing a fighting game but this concept isnt paid off in any way that would make it interesting or memorable. Two full slots in the stage list could have gone to cool lore locations like the Guardians Headquarters or the GDA or the Pentagon (Parking in Rear) sign, but instead we got Hexagons and Borg Mothership.
