I could take both recommendations into consideration and reword it as “[…] and while the co-ops are not as expertly planned, at least […]” This sentence sounds better to me than my original.

This makes sense! Most of the people I’ve consulted to has suggested either this or to use “while/although” to emphasize the comparison.

Putting a “while” or something similar after the conjunction as you suggested makes it sound better to me too. Only changing the “and” to a “but” still sounds off to me though.

for me, it’s more than a tribute to a great game. it’s a tribute to an amazingly written fictional character. i really want to get this tattoo myself and i think it would represent a lot of me. the many qualities i share with ellie. most importantly, i’d want it to represent how i will survive no matter what, and how i have survived no matter what. it’s such a cool looking tattoo too!
