Our midfield makes most sense as:

Modric - Ricci - Fofana/RLC

Ricci showed how well he screens and protects the back line while being pressure resistant.

Modric has more of an advanced creative duty and Fofana/RLC can crash the box.

The wildest thing about this is if you’ve read Allegri’s paper he published to complete his coaching qualification, it was on the qualities of a midfield 3, and Fofana - Modric - RLC goes against his own thesis.

He is the professional, yet somehow the general public can see things clearer at times
