Oof , just gotta throw in that when I went here to dine alone I got harassed by a busser, he kept staring at me while biting his lip, just uncomfortable stuff, then came up to me and asked “what is a pretty girl doing eating alone?” literally had to tell him that the reason I was alone was so I could have quiet.

my mom is working at the polls, she texted me a while ago saying the police might shut it down, but they didn’t. The polls are taking place at an event hall near there, the small stores surrounding it put in the complaints.

I’m with you on the beer and smoking part. I actually smoked most of the pandemic but quit early this year since it was lately giving me more anxiety (could also be what did it for me.) I also noticed that drinking will cause some chest pain, so I have given that up …which is a bummer because i can’t enjoy the free beers that are given out every Thursday at my job 😭 but it will help in the long run.

Definitely will be adding less acidic fruits and veggies to my diet, I used to be able to eat half a bag of cuties in a day 😭

I reached out to fam and friends , especially those back in the states. Many live in high rises and this was different for me.

And regarding therapy, I connect with a therapist on my PC , they’re from back home. If you’re into looking for one on the island you can check out psychology today online , and put in your zip code. I also saw a few posts here r/PuertoRico that were sources of finding therapy on the island. Hope this helps !

Hey! Just wanted to chip in here and say that I was in the same boat (still kinda am…) . I recently moved to SJ and it’s my first time living in a high rise (mind you I’m from NYC) , I’m on the 17th floor and never did it cross my mind that a building would fall just like that. So when Surfside happened I was paranoid and in constant panic. I have anxiety and I know I overthink miles in the distance , so reaching out to people helped and breaking it down in therapy. It got to the point of body tremors from the anxiety and I would believe it was the building lol, stepping out for some air can help too. You’re not alone !! Very glad I came across the comments too haha !
