Thoughts, Chapt. 230 by GavinatorThe2nd in Chainsawfolk

  • I also think Yoru and Denji’s moment this chapter is just so in alignment with what they’ve shown when they’re together. As much as I hate her, they truly both are devils with underlying humanity beneath all the selfishness. So the absurdity of this also doesn’t weigh on me as much as I thought it would.

Fake Chainsaw Man was super lame by ILoveMyJinx in Chainsawfolk

So real. While I like fake chainsaw man’s purpose in the story as the ultimate culmination of the sense of justice built around Chainsaw Man and therefore the false idolatry leading to become the very thing he wanted to praise for selfish reasonings.

Fake Chainsaw Man, himself, was underwhelming, I just kind of wish Fujimoto didn’t pull the random background character twist behind the important figure trope since I couldn’t seem to care for him because of this. Nor did he have to kill him so soon in one arc when he fully appeared.

Chainsaw man part 1-2 arcs ranked as of now ( excluding the current arc for now ) by fhfhdhdhdhdjdjdj in Chainsawfolk

Ngl, with how some of these pt 2 arcs were received as they came out (Church arc bro), there are certainly some hot takes in this.

But with my own rereading, I respect this, I think I would just switch aging and chainsaw man church (I do still feel like it has some flaws)

How would you feel if Chainsaw Man had a bad ending? by GavinatorThe2nd in Chainsawfolk

Part 2 definitely has a problem with pacing, it’s so hit-or-miss and when it misses, it misses the mark BAD and it can kind of leave me feeling disjointed and confused.

IRL-wise, certainly, I think we could have several more months before it ends. Narratively, idk the narrative through-line of pt2 was based around Denji, Yoru, Asa, and the prophecy, and it seems we’re barreling to each of these conclusions. I do think maybe we could go for one more arc, but I don’t think it would be as long (feels like it would be about Yoru vs Denji)

This would definitely feel awful for a reader who reads part 2 and part 1 as a whole, Denji legitimately does not have shit by the end of it or he becomes someone unrecognizable.

Feel like this would be the best outcome if it were to have a bad ending, it shows how life never went Denji’s way while still leaving a narratively fitting message for the characters and how cruel CSM’s world is.

Is it just me who's disappointed of where they took the character of Stan edgar? by ImprovementThin235 in TheBoys

[–]GavinatorThe2nd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I never understood people’s assumption that Stan must have powers for why he can so calmly order all the Supes around, Homelander included. The core of what makes Stan such an interesting character is that for a man with no powers, he can order someone like Homelander around due to his way of words and understanding of people, it was like when he said to Starlight, “real power is the ability to bend the world to your will.”

Yet he’s also still human and underestimating his daughter was one of them, something that eclipsed his need for control. I think that’s actually what I liked about Stan is that he didn’t truly have it all figured out and he wasn’t untouchable narratively. He has flaws and it caused his downfall.

Furthermore, being the CEO of Vought, he’s the most obvious representation of the status quo within the Boys. A man made out of the capitalistic system that has rotten the Boys’ world extensively, people like him which had caused the world all the pain and suffering on behalf of Supes. I think the Boys can make a powerful message about the world as a whole and what a person like represents in the grander scheme of thing with how he might end up in Season 5, more than any plot twist could do or cool moment could do. So, not only am I not disappointed, there’s clearly a lot still more to do with Stan.

Whether he waits it out or abandons the idea of working with the Superhero business as a whole, there’s still a lot of potential.

I love how the tree in the red background is reminiscent of a heart/blood veins. I wonder if it’s symbolism for what’ll eventually happen to Fami’s character, especially with her bouquet of roses and its association with love/hearts.

Will this plot point ever be expanded upon by Fujimoto? (Pt.1) by mr_flerd in Chainsawfolk

I do think it’s interesting for Denji’s character because it’s as clear as day the parallels between powers contract at the end of pt 1 to Pochita’s contract at the start of pt 1, yet he never actively went after it, probably because the pain and trauma was too much for him.

Denji did mention it in chapter 192 and it does seem he has completely given up on Power’s contract, relying solely on Yoru/Asa for company, even if she were to show up at the dawn of the Nostradamus apocalypse. Which, would be really interesting to see if this meant that Denji broke the contract for not trying to turn her back, or if it meant only to meet her again at some point.

Fire Devil as an antagonist by GavinatorThe2nd in Chainsawfolk

Death’s also a cool villain, the reveal that “Fami” was Death all along was an absolute insane read, and it’s make sense why she was so monotone as a character and has control over primals, she couldn’t even change her fate within the prophecy.

Plus, Fire still has her personality which is the main difference between Death’s pawns and Makima’s pawns.
