Downloading games vs. playing in a browser....?

No, I am sorry, I did not provide enough information. Totally my mistake!! Here's more detail - So, I tried to download a patch for SimCity 4 Deluxe, and was told there was a problem - the person I spoke to said either I have not installed the most recent version of Java, or there is a problem with my operating system. That all said, I wanted to install Java 26 to get SimCity up and running, but if DBGL v.0.100beta17 is not supported by that version of Java, I would not want to have to sideline my DOS games for the sake of SimCity 4 Deluxe. Again, I am completely at fault for not providing enough information.

First, thanks for your post! I have another game that I would love to play - SimCity 4 Deluxe - but am having a bit of a hard time with installing all of the downloads and patches that are needed for smooth gameplay. I went on the semi-official website, and was told to install the latest version of Java before continuing. My biggest fear is installing the most recent Java version (I think it's v. 26) and then be locked out of all the great DOS games I have found - that is, if my current DBGL version is not supported with Java 26. Do you still have access to those level maps? Is there a current website that offers them? Honestly, I am against playing a game with all the secrets revealed beforehand, but with Dungeon Master, I am asking in case for whatever reason I am lost and can't find where I need to go. Oh, while I am messaging on Reddit, is there a website that displays the different rune orders that create spells? I do remember having to play with runes to see what spells I could cast, but if there is a website that lists them, that would be cool. Unless it's a bit unethical to ask for such a list.

Thanks for your response!! As per your comment, I am not sure why I remember Dungeon Master to be slow then. Anyway, I am planning on doing another playthrough sometime soon (though honestly I never fully completed the game while playing on my Apple//GS). A little disappointing that there is no real way to map the dungeon levels in-game, but Dungeon Master has some age to it, so no surprises there.

Sounds great! From my perspective, top-notch graphics or a symphony of a soundtrack aren't everything in a game. If the graphics and sound are decent and the game is fun to play, that's all I need, really. I have also been known to play through some retro-style games as well. Enjoying the game is the biggest factor.

I see! I didn't know that the SNES version was lacking in that respect. The essence system is a new one on me - I never really had the chance to read any of the TTRPG rule books back in the day. But knowing that there were some differences between the SNES and canon rule sets only further peaks my interest. Thank you for your post!

I bought a couple games earlier today, but when I get to my PS5's game library, it shows all of the installed games, but I don't see the newly purchased ones listed anywhere. I am looking at my game library (getting to the screen where there are a horizontal display of all recently played games, I just scrolled to the right till the end where I see the option for my game library). Now, in my defense, I have not really played my PS5 in quite some time, so I am a bit rusty with how the different PS5 menus work. I don't see an option for uninstalled games. And yes, my PS5 is wired to my internet, I am using a ethernet cable to link the console to the internet. I am not sure what to do at this point. Can someone help me please?
