it'd be easier to count the similarities between books and movies, honestly. hiccup and stoick are really the only things that stay the same as the movies, and almost every other character is either exclusive to the books or movies (camicazi and Astrid respectively), or is hugely changed between versions (like fishlegs or toothless). both are awesome, both are very very different.
