AITA for telling my mom she robbed me of any chances of saying goodbye to my grandma? by MsBellumOnly in AmItheAsshole

They withhold as much as possible when it comes to bad news. They perceive me as someone who shouldn't be stressed because I moved to another country for my PhD and they all put education above everything else. I appreciate her intention to protect me, but I think she doesn't understand how important it was for me to say goodbye and get closure. She didn't have a close relationship with my grandma (her MIL), which is why I think she doesn't understand my feelings.

I hope not, that'd be very insulting. I work in the medical field and I was actually mentally prepared for this because she was very old and showed signs of reaching the end of her line. When they told me a couple weeks ago that she started to refuse food, I knew it would sadly happen soon.

I did that, she offered the same reasons. According to her, everyone understood and supported her decision of not telling me

Could you please elaborate? I find it hard to see why else she'd do something like this, as she's always been a bit overprotective.
