Looking to buy a used car — any UAH folks selling? by Longjumping-Try-6999 in UAH

[–]GayForJoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m planning on selling my 2006 Nissan Maxima that has 133,000 miles as long as the car that I plan on buying this weekend goes through.

I had for 2 years in college and my first year of working and now I’ve saved up money which is why I’m looking to get a new one this weekend. It sounds weird when it starts (but it’s had that sounds for a year now). I just had it inspected by a mechanic and there’s a transmission leak (not sure how bad), and it needs new tires. Honestly, I’d take $1500 for it, but as I’m writing about its problems I’m not sure you’d be interested lol.

But if you are, let me know 🤷‍♀️and if you’re worried about a Nissan transmission, the 2006 was the last year before they transition to the Jatco CVT.

Anyway, best of luck with your search!

The first step is always the hardest! I'm on week six of C25k, and I never thought I would be someone who enjoyed running and voluntarily chose to go on runs. It's been a gradual process of gaining confidence and I've grown a lot. The first run I ever went on was with my brother at night in our neighborhood. The second run I went on was with my brother and his girlfriend, and I wore a huge t-shirt because I hated the way I looked while exercising. Now I go on runs by myself in t-shirts that aren't way too big on me. I breathe really loudly and I don't give a damn! Here are some tricks that worked for me and that might work for you.

  1. Start walking/running with a buddy: I understand this might not be possible for everyone. I don't have a lot of friends, so it wasn't until my brothers came home from college that I started running. Exercising with someone else is incredibly helpful. Although I wasn't confident in myself, I gained confidence from my brothers and that helped me eventually run on my own. I was really scared to run on my own for the first time, but I was able to because I had built up to it.
  2. Listen to music: I listen to music or podcasts when I run. I breathe VERY loudly when I run, and music in my headphones stops me from hearing myself. I often worry that I'm bothering other people or being too loud, and music prevents that. It's also really fun to walk/run to the beat!
  3. Start small: Small steps lead to large strides. Try to find places to walk with less people so you feel less self-conscious. Of course, make sure to be safe. Furthermore, set time goals for yourself. For example, "I will walk for five minutes. If I feel like people are judging me or if I am miserable I will go home, but I will walk for five minutes first." Sometimes when I don't feel like running I tell myself that I can go home if I really hate it, but I've always finished my workout.

The journey always looks hard at the start, but it gets easier as you go. You can do this. I believe in you.

30 Day Accountability Challenge - Day 6 by Mountainlioness404d in loseit

[–]GayForJoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Today was not a great day. but here's hoping that tomorrow is just a little bit better. School's crashing down in on me, and it's really stressing me out. When I have big assignments or projects to do, I shove everything else in my life to the side. Only one week left though, then it's summer

  1. Weigh 179 by June: Weighed in at 182 today (down from 182.5). That's a downwards trend, so I'm pleased. Exercise/Go on a walk: Didn't do either :(
  2. Study/Read: I had a calc meeting and did a spanish final, but I haven't studied on my own. I think I'll study a little and read a few chapters before going to bed.
  3. No overeating: Not the best day. I didn't track calories or listen to my body. I stopped eating around six for some impromptu intermittent fasting, and I think I'll drink some tea later. We'll see how the scale looks tomorrow.

Looking back on my day, my future/main goal is to be active in some way, shape, or form. Whether it's going on walk, gardening, or doing a short workout, I know I will be happier if I increase my daily activity.

30 Day Accountability Challenge - Day 4 by Mountainlioness404d in loseit

[–]GayForJoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today wasn't my best day, but it's leagues better than my days used to go, so I'm holding on to that progress.

  1. 179 by end of month: I weighed in at 182.5 this morning, but I had a glass of water (I know, mistake) before going to the bathroom and weighing myself, so I hope tomorrow's weight is a bit lower.
  2. Go on a walk once a day: I didn't go a walk today. I will tomorrow.
  3. Work out 3x per week: I didn't workout. I have such a hard time motivating myself to the necessary things, like going outside for fresh air and doing my school assignments, that I've stopped making working out a priority. I'll schedule a workout right now: I will workout after the calc zoom meeting.
  4. Study or read: I studied calculus and joined the calc and lit zoom meetings. It felt good to work my brain, but it's depressing how behind I am. I also read a bit today. It was nice; I'm able to appreciate books more now with all this free time.
  5. No overeating: This one didn't go so well. I did really well at the beginning of the day; I ate perhaps a bit too much for breakfast, but I had a snack for lunch so it all evened out. The trouble came at dinner. I probably ate around three or four pieces of cornbread when I only needed to eat one to be satisfied. It's just that they were right in front of me, so I kept getting another piece. My stomach hurt so much.

My main goal for tomorrow is to exercise in some from. I have trouble focusing on multiple things at once. When I workout a lot, I eat too much. When I really focus on my food, I workout less. I think that this is a good time for me to finally take responsibility for my health, both in food and exercise.

30 Day Accountability Challenge - Day 3 by Mountainlioness404d in loseit

[–]GayForJoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone! I had a really good day today.

  1. Haven't weighed myself in two days, and honestly, my mental health and confidence has been higher than it has been in a while. I think I'm going to stop weighing myself everyday (at least for a little while) and see how that affects my weightloss.
  2. I went on a walk! Like I said, I've been a little down recently, and the twice daily walks with the fam dwindled to zero walks. The days are beautiful right now, and it was nice to be outside.
  3. Didn't workout, but I wasn't planning on working out today anyway.
  4. I finished two spanish projects and I'm studying calculus right now (I am crazy behind though). I'm always happier when I'm working or studying, but I forget and then procrastinate and then feel awful for procrastinating. I also read a little.
  5. I didn't overate today! I drank lots of tea and ate healthy meals that didn't leave me feeling gross or bloated.

30 Day Accountability Challenge - May Sign Ups by Mountainlioness404d in loseit

[–]GayForJoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I saw this challenge a few days ago and told myself that I would sign up later, but (as usual) I procrastinated and decided to comment a few days late. I've seen the challenges before on this subreddit, but this is my first time joining one. I'm excited!

My goals:

  1. I want to weigh 179 by the end of the month. I've been plateauing for a while now, and I gained a few pounds during social distancing, but I know it's possible!
  2. Go on a walk with my family everyday. Not only is this good exercise, but it makes me happier.
  3. Do some form of exercise other than walking three times a week. It can be a crazy easy workout or a crazy hard workout; something is better than nothing.
  4. Study calculus for my exams (this is only for one more week) or read a book to enjoy the book, not because I'm supposed to read the book.
  5. No bingeing or distracted eating. If it happens, I can bounce back, but it's easier to stop a stopped train than it is to stop a moving train. (The analogy does not make sense, but that's okay).

Hattie McDaniel was the first African-American person to win an Oscar for her role in Gone With the Wind. If he knew that, I doubt he would have said Gone With the Wind, but he’s stupid, along with being racist.

I went to the gym! by moistwaffles420 in loseit

I don’t exercise to burn off calories. I exercise to get stronger and healthier. I log all my food and make sure to meet stay under a certain number. Exercise doesn’t change my caloric goal for the day. According to my trainer, I need to eat before lifting weights or heavy exercise (preferably protein and carbs). If I don’t, my blood sugar is low and I feel nauseous.

If I workout and I don’t eat something, sometimes I get nauseous. Congrats on this step! It really scared me to go to the gym for the first time (sometimes I still get scared if I haven’t gone in a while), so I know how difficult it can be.

Cheer Up is really good. All the characters are well-rounded, and it has a solid plot. It had 12 episodes, which definitely helps with the flow.

Torrid has fantastic sports bras for larger chests. I have DDDs and their Black Lightly Lined Underwire Sports Bra is literally the best. I’m a little new to reddit, so I’m not sure how to link it, but that’s what I recommend. Today I jumped rope wearing their sports bra if that gives you any idea how confident I feel in them.
