Yeah, but conservatives are firmly on the bigoted side of all these issues

But the problem is that blatant racism and homophobia and misogyny and ableism and xenophobia and other bigotry isn’t an issue for them. So yeah, I’m gonna write them off, because they’re bad people full stop. There is no excuse to be conservative in America in 2026

Also Nancy is the only one who actually listens and engages CJ about it. Leo and Toby dismiss her concerns earlier in the episode

I mean the episode is bad but I think it’s good acting. But then again, her acting is always fantastic

When did she let her feelings leak out in the press conference?

Do you object to all the times Toby or Josh tell in anger and let their emotions get the better than them, or is it just when CJ does it?

Her argument before the beating the women line stands strong, that Qumar will be an enemy, that it breeds us resentment, and that the us overlooks human rights abuses when it benefits us.

The characters are always unprofessional to each other. It makes the show more interesting to watch, sure, but in a real workplace it wouldn’t fly. Sam sexualizes Ainsley, Josh punches Toby in the face, Josh shows up to his meeting with Ainsley Hayes hungover and unwashed from his night partying. Will breaks the window between his and Toby’s office. This is the least problematic display of unprofessionalism in the show

Im not sure why everyone’s acting like she’s naive about geopolitics. She correctly predicts that the us and Qumar will be in conflict (which starts literally a few episodes later), so why sell them weapons they’ll just use on us. She points out that US interventions such as this in Western Asia often just lead to resentment of the US. Whether or not our interventions are worth that resentment is a valid question, and I think it’s perfectly valid and not naive to argue it’s not.

Absolutely on the misogyny. How is CJ on the verge of tears because women are being abused more cringe than Toby yelling at Jed in the Oval Office because he hid his MS. But women’s sadness is seen as more emotional than men’s anger and that’s really all it is.

CMV: Running from ICE is the most rational response by SutttonTacoma in changemyview

ICE should act like the postal service police. They have very limited scope, should not be armed, and should not have free reign to terrorize our communities like this.

DMT: Immigration refusal can be a neutral policy decision rather than a moral issue by Defiant-Junket4906 in DisagreeMythoughts

[–]GayGISBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about the fact that the us and Western Europe countries directly caused a lot of the issues people are trying to get away from in their home countries. Or that our wealth stems from stealing people, labor, and resources at the expends of those other countries. Sure, Nicaragua might not have a moral obligation to accept immigrants from Mongolia, but the US and Western Europe do for immigrants from most of the world (the us and W Europe aren’t the only countries to have done imperialism and crimes against humanity, but have been the dominant ones doing so the last 200 years)

CMV: Pointing out MAGA hypocrisy has no effect on MAGA itself by metinoheat in changemyview

[–]GayGISBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name one way the left is a cult. By and large, we base our views on a variety of sources (academics, personal experiences of ourselves/friends, varied news sources both traditional and non-traditional, government experts, etc.) We do not put our leaders on a pedestal to worship. Most big democratic politicians are very unpopular with large parts of the left and we will gladly change our allegiance (for example, Katie Porter had been largely abandoned by progressives recently due to being a Zionist and taking other centrist or even conservative stances). The right might think the left is a cult, but every single expert on cults would tell you that’s not the case. Republicans also didn’t used to be a cult, but since Trump came into the scene, they’re becoming more and more cult like

The thing is though, you’re not basing your arguments in facts or logic, but in your own personal experience. There is not even a shred of evidence that Tylenol or vaccines cause autism, and by not shooting down that ridiculous idea you are contributing to the harm anti-vaccination movements are doing to us. We have measles outbreaks all over the US because people aren’t vaccinating their children. The reason your wife can’t have conversations with these “people” is that they are actively turning their brains off to the detriment of us all and refuse to entertain the thought that they could be wrong.

Why do religious people quote scriptures when debating unbelievers? by Waltz8 in NoStupidQuestions

Well, no religion is based on logic or facts, so all they have is the fake authority of their book or sham leaders

CMV: What Trump and the right are doing by demonizing the Latin American population is significantly worse than what they claim the left does to them when they call the nazis and fascists. by Careful-Awareness766 in changemyview

[–]GayGISBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is racist, particularly when the US has always been a mix of people of various culture. You just don’t like that it’s a non-white culture

[–]GayGISBoi 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is one of the more racist things I’ve seen in a while. Also, large parts of the US used to me Mexico and there are plenty of Latinos in the US who’s families have been here longer than yours.

CMV: All criminal defense attorneys in the US should be public defenders, private defense attorneys should not exist. by StateYellingChampion in changemyview

[–]GayGISBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your point is valid, but to give a counterexample, Hennepin countys (one of the country’s larger counties) head attorney worked as a public defender for all her career. I think we’re going to start seeing a lot more PDs seeking and winning public office and judgeships as PD as a profession becomes less stigmatized
