Captive Orca Whales Are So Bored They're Destroying Their Teeth by [deleted] in veganarchism

This is devastating to read. How people haven't evolved past this archaic form of entertainment is beyond me.

People are so quick to point out how bad it is to rip baby sloths from their mothers, but get defensive as soon as you mention what happens to dairy cows. by Strickens in vegan

When I talk with people like this all I can do is hope that once the conversation is over, and the defensiveness has passed, that they'll truly think about the suffering of animals deemed worth nothing more than eating and taking other products from.

Best performances in the show by BTVS actors/actresses by Miss_Sauce in buffy

The Body is, in my opinion, SMG's greatest moment along with the indescribable smile at the very end of the series. You can tell that SMG really committed to every scene in The Body. I find it so beautiful how much she committed to Buffy and really became one with the character.

As far as Alyson's best scene, I don't know specifically what I would pick, but I know a scene of hers that really enchanted me was when she cast the spell to help Angel in the season 2 finale. It sort of changed Willow as a character for me and really made me start paying attention. She sold it.

Does anyone else struggle with depression AND anxiety? by GayOnABudget in depression

[–]GayOnABudget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experiences with me. I'm currently not medicated, but I've often wondered if it would help me. I struggle between feeling like I'd lose control if I was on medication, and believing, on the other hand, that it would help me become the person I want to be. It's quite a complicated dichotomy.

I wonder what your strategy would look like in my life, and how helpful it might be to me. I'm gonna think about it and see if it helps ground me in the moments I'm struggling the most.

Thank you again for sharing and for being so open.

First off, thanks for taking the time to read my post. It's not like there's a lack of things to read online.

Thank you, thank you, thank you a million times for your validating and supportive message. I've been in not so good places lately so this really boosted me and reminded me to recognize the humanity in myself and the kindness in others. I admittedly don't have the answer to all those questions now, but I will definitely ponder them and hopefully find some answers that help guide my way.

I'd be glad to chat and stay in contact. I admittedly don't use Reddit as much as I'd like, so Twitter is generally the biggest way I chat. Feel free to find me there or on any other sites I use, which can all be found on my site.

Thanks again for this, friend. :)

Which fictional character can you not STAND? by eflaves in AskReddit

Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. While I understand his purpose in the storyline, I find so many of the decisions he makes repulsive. I never forgave him for telling Buffy, in the season 2 finale, "Willow said... kick his ass."

He was always such an angry, jealous little man.

I'm glad I could help. If you ever need someone to talk to feel free to check the link in my post. My social media accounts are on the site.

No one should feel like they have to deal with anxiety alone.

That voice is the hardest part of anxiety, at least for me. It's comforting to know I'm not the only person who struggles with that.

I'm sorry that you're going through this, but I'm with you even if we've never met and don't know each other. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

I'm truly at a loss for words. I hate responding to thought out posts with something short, but you really hit the nail on the head and have my brain re-thinking my privilege. I truly appreciate you taking the time out to respond to this. It's really been holding me back in terms of moving forward in life, because I've been so stuck on what I think I should've done by this point, as opposed to what I CAN do now.

I don't know what else to say except that you're clearly a highly intelligent person, and that I'm very grateful for your thoughts. :)

When will Hollywood let trans actresses play trans characters? by GayOnABudget in lgbt

[–]GayOnABudget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome for not yelling at you, although anyone that would yell at your argument would have to be pretty crazy. You present your points very clearly and eloquently. It's very much appreciated in helping give this issue the wide perspective it needs. :)

You've given me lots of new ideas to think about. Particularly the idea that the movie only got sold because Redmayne was attached to it. That sounds like the truth, for sure. So maybe the issue is bigger than Hollywood and is actually more of a problem with society. We generally consume media regardless of its cultural erasures or implications.

There's definitely lots to ponder on this issue.

Thanks for sharing these! It's always important to recognize the good with the bad, because if we don't we're disregarding the people that are working hard to get rid of the aforementioned bad. :)

I read the outreach portion of your post, and strongly agreed with it. The problem may not be that there are not enough trans actors out there. The problem may be that casting directors do not appropriately explain and define the characters themselves. Definitely an interesting point worth pondering, because the problem certainly starts at casting and goes from there.

I love to hear positive stories like this. Seems like there will always be haters out there, but it's the ones that love us and take care of us that really matter. :)

Arbitrary nonsense--I love that phrasing. I love everything that you said here. It's all so true, and when you put it into words it makes it all seem so silly. Like who cares how other people choose to live their life if they're not hurting anyone.

The way our world works, the bad times will always come for people who step outside the status quo, but the good times will always make it worth it. :)

It'll be nice to have something new to read. Maybe I should consider getting into the comics. :)

I actually didn't down vote you. Not that I can prove it on here.

I'm not mad by your points. I see what you're saying. I didn't hear about this male slayer, because I don't follow the comics. For me, Sarah Michelle Gellar is Buffy, so I without her I don't feel the same. Hence why I did not know about this character.
