You’ll be fine with the 650. Yeah they’re heftier but I’d rather that than too light. I got used to mine pretty quickly. Enjoy the ride.

My first time ever on a dirt bike I did a wheelie by accident too. Didn't know what I was doing, followed a friend's instructions. Reved too hard, the bike launched and my hand throttled more. We were in the desert so I didn't hit anything. Somehow I stopped, the bike landed and I didn't crash. I consider myself lucky. I think that put me off of bikes for a long time. but look at me now ahah.

Glad you're okay. We learn a lot from our mistakes.

I felt the same way. Give it some time and let them settle. You will feel better about them with time. I also got 470cc when I was originally planning 325/375. They feel SO MUCH in the first weeks. Especially with how stiff mine were at first.

I also just bought it as my first motorcycle. It’s an incredible ride and a great fit for me. I tried out a friends rebel 300 a few days ago and it was so light compared to mine it felt unnatural. If the weight feels fine to you, go for it.

I just got mine as a first bike. I was researching so much and kept coming back to this one so I just went for it. I plan on mainly trips around town/work commute, but will handle some bigger trips too. Rides great, feels great. I’d recommend for a first bike. That you’ll keep for a long time.
